frankdracman23 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 NewCath up 17-15 at half. First half was watching paint dry. Second half was interesting to say the least. ND scored first four and NCC coached benched every starter. That last for about 3 minutes. ND really only increased the lead by 1 in that time. Then things got chippy in a hurry with some rough fouls and a T. NCC only 3 points in 3rd period and 6 in 4th. Missed wide open layups. ND knocked down a couple of 3 balls and that was all she wrote.
Lawnboy13 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Boys and girls that was by far the UGLIEST game I've ever witnessed, and in more ways than one. Both teams missed at least 15 lay-ups and that's no exaggeration Turnovers, I don't have enough fingers and toes to count. Flagrant fouls NOT CALLED quite a few. "urinated off" fans on both sides of the gym......NUMEROUS!!!! ND doesn't score until the 3:00 mark in the 1st quarter and score 7 straight. End of the 1st NewCath 8-7 2nd quarter was as awful as the 1st and Breds up 17-15 3rd quarter NewCath JV play the 1st 4 and a half minutes, and at the end of the 3rd it's ND 27-20 4th quarter,:banghead::poop::cry::no::isurrender::puke: I left before this one ended cause it was too painful to watch. Bottomline: Both these teams are far better than what was witnessed tonight.
frankdracman23 Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Honestly between the missed layups and the passes to no one by both teams it was worse than watching a 4th grade girls game. Anyone who says the Girls game emphasizes passing and ball movement should never watch the film of this one. NCC at the end of first quarter, end of second quarter, and hey end of the third quarter held the ball for the last shot ...................and never attempted a shot. Turned it over all three times and twice it led to ND basket at buzzer.

paNDA Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 You guys are talking about our 9th region rep, which ever one that is.
RedAndBlackhawks Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Yeah, I heard from someone I'm friends with this was one of the worst games he'd ever seen. NOTRE DAME 39, NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 26 – Senior guard Paige Kellam scored eight of her game-high 14 points in the second half to help the Pandas pull away. The Thoroughbreds were led by senior forward Nikki Kiernan’s 10 points. NOTRE DAME 8- 7-12-12—39 at NEWCATH 8- 9- 3- 6—26 NOTRE DAME (16-7): Stallman 3 0 8, Schuh 0 1 1, Hellmann 1 0 2, Kellam 4 6 14, Clemons 2 2 7, Smith 2 3 7. Totals 12 12 39. NEWCATH (20-3): Davenport 1 0 2, Ware 2 0 4, Zimmerman 2 0 4, Mayes 1 0 3, Kiernan 3 4 10, Neace 1 0 3. Totals 10 4 26. 3-pointers: ND—Stallman 2, Clemons. NCC—Mayes, Neace. JV: Notre Dame, 38-26. wxyz Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Obviously NDA coach felt differently than you guys. He tweeted something to the effect that it was a great team win and great execution. In another tweet he said something like great win over a Top 20 opponent. Maybe what you saw was his "game plan"

I think there should have been a refund at the end of the game. Unbearable to watch on both sides.

Maybe what you saw was his "game plan" His team was just as bad as NewCath, if that was his game plan it was :poop: If execution is turnovers and missed layups then his game plan worked.

RCC9 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Obviously NDA coach felt differently than you guys. He tweeted something to the effect that it was a great team win and great execution. In another tweet he said something like great win over a Top 20 opponent. Maybe what you saw was his "game plan" From what I hear, if that really was his gameplan, then there is no need for a coach like that in high school. I know it's all speculation whether it was his gameplan or not and I wasn't there. And this could have been a game where emotions just got the best of two competitive teams. But I heard from multiple people that were in attendance that the game was out of control. My hope he's actually happy with the X's and O'x rather than how the game played out. Although, I was told by neutral parties that he seemed pleased on the sidelines when all the chaos was going on. So it does make you wonder what the plan was. As for the game, I'm very surprised there weren't more technicals and multiple ejections. I only heard the names of two of the refs, both who I think do a great job. And I know that things can spin out of control quickly, but I am surprised it got as bad as what I heard and as people have described on here. I will give them the benefit of the doubt because I wasn't there and I have learned that until you walk in their shoes...don't judge. But I have to think they are reflecting on what could have been done differently today. I know the two that I heard were there take pride in their abilities, so I'm sure they will use that as a learning experience.
Clyde Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I can't imagine that something happened that warranted an ejection.
RCC9 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I can't imagine that something happened that warranted an ejection. From what I was told, at least two instances could've/should've been ejections, maybe three. Two people that are very knowledgeable stated this was the worst game they have witnessed. Parents coming out of the stands on both sides and being warned. It must have been pretty bad.
