I tried to keep districts intact, when possible. Then the size of the district and geography was considered. All of the districts are either 4 or 5 teams. The current alignment has two six-team districts. Clearly, the weight of 5A teams has shifted west. This could allow for two 4 team districts in Region 4.
DragonFire Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Johnson Central? We don't actually know yet that they'll go, though almost everyone assumes and strongly suspects they will.
rjs4470 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Isn't there a possibility that Scott moves down??
Mr.Network Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Franklin County moves dowm to 4A. Doss and Madisonville-North Hopkins are the two smallest in 5A.
doubledeuce Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Isn't there a possibility that Scott moves down?? Scott looks to be the third smallest in 5a, if they would have went by 2 year enrollment they would have been 4a.
Rambo4343 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I still don't get why you put Owensboro in District 4? You can have 6 teams in a district.
DragonFire Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I still don't get why you put Owensboro in District 4? You can have 6 teams in a district. Agreed. There is no way Apollo and Owensboro end up in separate districts.
Ra-Ra Raider Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Depending whether one school plays up or not, our cross town rival Boone County may be moving down to 5A.
DragonFire Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Franklin County moves dowm to 4A. Doss and Madisonville-North Hopkins are the two smallest in 5A. You're missing Madisonville-North Hopkins in your alignment. Provided they don't move down if enough teams move up, I think D1 will be: Christian County, Graves County, Hopkinsville, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Marshall County. Outside chance of Logan County getting moved over as well, though unlikely. D2 i think would be Apollo, Bowling Green, Greenwood, Logan County, Ohio County, Owensboro. Again, I could see Logan County getting moved west if necessary, but doubt it would be. Some think Greenwood will jump to 6A, and if they did, there'd be no need to move Logan County as that would create a nice 5 team district. Barren County is the one that actually gets put more on an island in all this, because I don't think they'd fit well with the Owensboro schools. I don't think you will see the Owensboro schools and Ohio County split up either.
jericho Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Johnson Central? They are running from Highlands and Northern KY.
DragonFire Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 This is what 5A looks like with Logan County in D1 and Barren County in D2. Barren County actually causes a lot of problems in an alignment. They can be at the Bullitt County schools faster than the two Owensboro schools, but they'd always have to visit 2 of those 4 in the group up there (along with Nelson) in any given year, and no trip would be shorter than 1 hour. You could potentially place Barren with those in District 4, but would they? And if Greenwood does remain in 5A, it would mean that either Logan County or Barren County is going to have to go to a further district because you'd otherwise have a 7 team district when you add the Owensboro schools. I do not believe there is any way the Owensboro schools would be split and I likewise believe Ohio County would be paired with the Owensboro schools. There is a natural 5 team district in the west as you can see on the map, and sending Ohio County to D1 wouldn't make sense as it is between Owensboro & Bowling Green and thus a natural fit. Also, there is absolutely nothing that can be done about the lack of teams in the east outside of teams moving in. Four teams are on the eastern side of Daniel Boone National Forest. Four teams grouped just to the west of it. Five teams grouped around Lexington. Four teams in NKY. If you were absolutely desperate, you could pull in Bardstown (just above the 150 marker on the map), but that would still leave only 18 teams in the east, 21 in the west.
Mr.Network Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 I just stuck them in a district. That is what I should have done.
Mr.Network Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 If Perry County Central and Letcher County Central move back up to 5A, the East would stay the same.
