Cooper 47 Boone County 40

Featured Replies

Final from Florence.

Cooper jumped out to a big halftime lead only to see Boone have a huge 3rd qtr. Boone got it back to 1 with an extended 1-3-1 zone. Stayed close.

Boone fouled late and then the Boone player knocked the Cooper player down and got T'd.

Boone couldn't get it back to a one possession game.

Zack McNeil led Cooper with 20. 15 in the first half. 11 in the first qtr.

Sean McNeil had 9. Really nice-looking player of the future for Cooper. So fundamentally sound with a strong stroke.

Stanley led Boone.

Cooper really struggled against Boone's 1-3-1. Very stagnate attack which lead to outside shoots taken out of rythmn. Zach shot the ball very well the first half. Brother Sean provides them some instant offense coming off the bench. Loved the Z. McNeil drive and kick to S. McNeil for the three in the first half.

Cooper got good open looks in the 2nd half. It just wasn't Zack McNeil getting them. Lots of good looks from the corner were missed.

I was thinking the same thing. Was hoping he would occupy that spot for a while!

Cooper needs to be ready for that 1-3-1 next week when Boone goes to Cooper. Cooper scored 3 points in 3rd qtr today. Number 1 seed in 33rd on the line for the Jags next week.

Only scoring 1 bucket in the 3rd got Boone right back in it. I think Boone only scored 13 points the entire 2nd half.

Cooper has the best talent in the 33rd district. The problem is you never know which Cooper team you're going to get.

One thing is constant with this team though...DEFENSE.

Good to hear S McNeil is back and playing well. Kid is going to be a stud the next 4 years for Coach Sully's team. Him and Hendrix will form a tough 1-2 combo.

Don't forget the younger McNeil brother who is a really nice PG. He will be a freshman next year. Should be interesting to see when he gets varsity mins.

Hendrix will likely start at the PG position next year. There is some nice talent in the 8th grade class coming up next year, from what I've heard.

Sully will have the luxury of having a very competitive summer with a lot of guys looking to improve areas of weakness in an effort to earn varsity playing time. This is exactly what you want as a coach. These kids will push one another. I do think Chris will be a part of Sully's equation.

With Liechty, Hathorn, and Hawkins all back in the front court next year to go along with Hendrix and S McNair at the 1 and 2, Coach Sully will be in a good position again next year. He is great at developing kids and I'm sure a few of those freshmen and sophomores will emerge to give him a solid rotation.

Austin Lay coming from Camp Ernst will be another good one to throw into the mix. (I guess he will go to Cooper)

Agreed but I think he was saying Cooper has the most as a team.

Zack McNeil can get in the discussion if he stays aggressive offensively.

Totally agree Cooper should be pretty deep next season with some young talent to go along with seniors to be Hathorn, Hawkins, Leichty, and sophomores Hendrix and Sean McNeil makes for a pretty good starting lineup.

Hopefully the Jags can finish this season with a good run in the district and the tough 9th region.
