Winter Storm Watch NKY 2/4-5/14

I wouldn't put too much stock in any snowfall outlook 5 days out. For example the midweek storm. Looks like the storm is or maybe taking a more southerly route. I want to see the morning runs before I make any changes in my forecast.

Here's a link to the 3 hr interval map of frozen precipitation. This goes all the way to Friday. As you can see for later today into tomorrow most of the freezing rain and ice is along the Ohio River. This map is the probability percentage of freezing rain/sleet/ice.

I'll be back on when I can with an update. I have to get ready to go to work now. Take care and be weather aware.

I don't :lol2: I'm having trouble putting much stock in them 12 hours out...we never get the predicted snow amount on average get less than half of prediction in Somerset. As I said in post 28 I'll be shocked if we get 2" on the ground of accumulation.

^The news people this morning were saying 2-4 for the NKY area, but I trust nWo more than them. :idunno:

Still looking at only an inch or so for NKY?

If only an inch, then that means more ice for us. I'd much rather have the snow over the ice.

I just looked at the WPC outlook for Friday. Something maybe coming your way starting Friday. Should get a good read tomorrow.

Look in the ice storm Warning thread I posted my forecast.

Well, I've made it home. Left work between 1:30 an 2. We watched the radar all the way home, and it's a pretty fast moving system. When I left work, it was still south of SR 64 (about 7 miles north of I-64), but starting to spread northward and eastward, getting near Corydon. I was thanking my lucky stars I hadn't taken SR 64, which is my default route in bad weather. But because I was wanting to take the shortest route, I chose to go down through Paoli and Palmyra. Takes about 30-40 minutes to get from French Lick to Fredricksburg. Clear sailing all the way. At Palmyra we looked at the radar, and it indicated snow in Fredricksburg...only about 10 minutes behind us. I heard the weather and heavy snow in Paoli now. WHEW!

Nice moves RM!!!

Thanks! I've got a "bag full of tricks" when it comes to driving to and from work these days. And when nWo puts out an alert, I start long-range planning, and and then day of, my phone has to consantly be recharged to keep up with all the drain from my Weather Channel ap radar. :lol2: I also have programmed into my car 511 (Kentucky Road Conditions) and the INDOT Road Conditions telephone numbers. :D It's almost a days worth of work just to go to work on days when bad weather is supposed to move in while I'm there.

Roads were covered in the blink of an eye in Cincy, should be a fun drive. :irked:

It's pouring down freezing rain in Bardstown. This is some bad stuff.
