Since I'm joining the conversation late, please excuse my ignorance. Guru, do you think Coach Lynch might be posturing to allow Ryle to be the one to announce their choice for HC? Also, I can't, and stress can't, imagine the Triple Crown Mafia would like the offense that's run at Manual. It appears to be a wing-t or whatever you call it. Those people would lose their minds! I'm also a big Mike Woolf fan. I think he would make a fantastic head coach, and have personally tried to get him to move on and take jobs that were open. However, Mike Woolf is a loyal man and had remained loyal to Ryle High School, Bryson Warner and the kids in that program. I didn't think he would get the Ryle job, but not because he isn't qualified. I think the current administration was looking to break away from the previous regime and separate themselves from any BS stirred up by the parents that were behind the Warner firing. Regardless of who is the next coach, I wish them well. I'd like to see a spread offense there, only because I believe the talent is ripe for that offense. I certainly hope Mike Woolf will be the defensive coordinator bc he's earned that right to stick around. Looking forward to this ending.

 

 

You have the wrong team my man Miller, Manual is not a wng-t team, but do remember this when you think the Union folks would not like it, the two team in the 6A state championship this year BOTH ran the wing- t. Manual and Bryan Station which is where Coach Rigdon was before Manual run a spread style offense with some down hill zone running involved

I had thought Mike would get the job but it will take one full year to know if the committee did a good job. Troy Everhart was mentioned early on. No idea if he applied.

I do know this the two so called outside people that were on the committee, one went to Turner and ask to be on it, does not like Woolf, the other I believe was disgruntled towards previous staff and that may have hurt Woolf. I do believe if it is true that all you interviewed was assistant coaches and you did not give it to Woolf then that is a shame. He was the assistant coach of the year this year and if they gave the award before this year he deserved it multiple times. Turner has fired every major sport coach except baseball, who I believe the AD is an assistant baseball coach. Not saying that changes did not need to be made in all of these I am just saying that is a lot of turn over in a short period and if anything I would like to know why loyalty has bearing in your hire here.

I would say Rusty is respecting the wishes of how he found out. Once again an virtue that is lost a lot in all of these coaching changes now a days. But I am 100 % certain he knows who it is.

I heard as well and no one has even mentioned his name thus far. Im impressed the hiring committee has kept it this quiet. The school he coached at has had alot of success, so hopefully this will turn out good for Ryle.

I agree with you. I think he should step away from coaching at Ryle. If he gets a shot at being the DC at another school this year, I hope he takes his kid with him

You might be right, but I know this. Those kids loved him and would run through walls for him. The kids didn't play for Bryson. More kids will come out regardless who the new coach was going to be. However, since an assistant coach was hired, I believe the most qualified assistant was Wolfe. I hope the new coach has success, but Wolfe got screwed

Just a thought .. Maybe because he has a kid on the team, who has friends on the team and in the school, he was too close and accessible to the other parents. The perceived TCM influence. Not saying that was true. It might be why they went a different direction.
