January 30, 201412 yr I understand the problems of unpaid lunch bills and what that costs the school systems; however, if you've already given food to a child, you don't take the food back and throw it away! That's something a bully would do! Good point
January 31, 201412 yr This story is repulsive. It makes me want to let my kids account go delinquent and see what happens. We can feed criminals 3 hot meals a day in our jails but we are taking food away from children? Bullies...plain and simple. I would probably go to jail if that were my kid. Just sayin.....
January 31, 201412 yr These cafeterias are run like mini-profit centers. They get their state funding and then charge outrageous prices on top of it. I see the numbers from our school district, they send out all the numbers once a year for the parents to see. They have a surplus and the lady in charge of the entire business gets paid a nice salary.

January 31, 201412 yr They are just following orders boss. Need to go on up the chain of command. I doubt the lunch ladies just did this on their own.

It is amazing how many children go hungry on the weekends when they are not in school. Lunch is the only meal they can truly depend on at school.
February 7, 201412 yr Years ago, this happened in my school. The next day, the students went on strike and brought their own lunch. This was a problem for the cafeteria, as they prepare food for a certain number of kids every day and when those kids don't eat...well, the food is wasted. It never happened again. Lunch went back to normal. I went on strike that day, too. Like Kramer from Seinfeld, I never went off strike. I still haven't eaten in our cafeteria since. The young man whose food was taken from him graduated in 2003 and is now a pharmacist.
