Browns attempting to hire Mike Pettine as head coach

Featured Replies

The Buffalo Bills DC is meeting with management to iron out the assistant positions before an official announcement is made according to Ian Rappaport from NFL.com

Finally!!

Nothing against him, but hardly a "big" name guy that will soothe the Browns' fans irritation about waiting so long. Will be interesting to see what some of my friends post on FB about the hire.

Not sure if I read it here or somewhere else, but when the Browns' owner, Jimmy Haslam, was with Pittsburgh, he was part of the process which took fairly long to hire Mike Tomlin, who was really an unknown at that time. Not saying that will happen here, because I know better than to get my hopes up, but here's hoping.

He could very well be the second coming of Vince Lombardi...but, only time will tell on that. All I'm saying is that it's not the type of name that's going to satisfy a lot of the disgruntled fan base in the immediate future.

Why does Cleveland have a NFL team again?

All things considered, they've got one of the most loyal fan bases anywhere.

Wait...there's an NFL team in Cleveland? Who knew?:idunno:

What does that say about their fans? (insert 90's Bengals fan jokes here.)

They must like to be last.

Last in their division, last to hire a head coach...

That letter to fans seemed to be an attempt to mollify the fanbase over the team's struggles to find a coach by implying they were waiting on the playoffs to end so they could snag a coach from one of the teams still left. Seems like a lot more bluster now that they didn't get a guy from any of those teams and the playoffs continue.

13 years ago the guy was the head coach at North Penn High School in PA.

Some of you might remember the show on ESPN, "The Season"? It was kind of a short version of MTV's "Two a Days" before it became a hit.

His dad was/is a LEGEND in Pennsylvania HS Football.

I'm not going to sit here and act like I knew all of that off the top of my head, but after doing some research, it all started coming back to me. I remember watching "The Season". One of, if not THE big story of this show was father vs. son. One (his dad the longtime coach at Central Bucks West and junior at North Penn).

Awesome story. Been a Redskins fan all my life, but Ill definitely be sporting some Browns stuff and pulling for them

At least Cleveland has won a playoff game in the last 20 years.

I knew I recognized that name.
