The other thing to remember is that after Bin Laden was killed the JSOC commander was very public about the JSOC and SEALs role in this.

 

Again, it surprised no one that it was SEALs so why do we think the recognition is THE reason for any retaliation?

A lot of people released more information than they should have, and some including the Navy benefitted from the good feelings and good publicity brought about by the elimination of Bin Laden.

 

However, past that, it is in the best interests of the individuals and their families in these sensitive government roles..include FBI, CIA, etc. that their profile remain low.

I somewhat agree there. I just think as a Navy Seal it's in their best interests not to disclose to family or friends exactly what it is that they do, especially not what team they're a part of. I've known 2 guys over the years that were or are(can't confirm) Navy SEALS. I knew that's what they were striving for and trying to do and then one day when they reached that goal(and it didn't happen on the first attempt for one of them), they came back and it just wasn't talked about any more. They did clean up their social media stuff a lot too, everything changed to private and not a lot of stuff talked about in their feeds any more other than people dropping in and telling them they're missed or hope to see them soon. It's an already risky line of business that Navy SEALS are in and IMO social media and letting lots of people know or feel like they're a part of what they're doing is only going to make it more dangerous, Navy SEALS don't sign up to be SEALS because they want to come home and tell stories or brag about what they've done.
