Trimble County 57 Walton-Verona 49 (8th Region All "A" Classic Championship)

WOW, Trimble Co. with a 24-7 4th quarter, what happened to the Bearcats in this quarter?
Bad possessions and youth.................which can go hand in hand. This was a great learning experience for the young Bearcats. They will probably be the 8th Region All A favorite the next two years, as they only lose one Senior starter.

The fellow sitting next to me says, "When it rains, it pours."

Things just went bad in a hurry for the Bearcats. A little panic, turnovers, bad shots, missed shots, quick shots, missed free throws, more panic, a couple of players trying to do too much to make something happen, ahhh! They just could not get control of the down hill skid.

They played tremendous for 3 quarters, and in the fourth, I guess they remembered their youth and inexperience. I will say this...I am still so proud of the Lady Bearcats. They are over coming adversity and injuries and getting better and better. A couple of weeks ago, getting that close to an 8th region All A championship would have seemed like a long shot. Great job Clinkenbeard and staff. Keep working.

Congratulations to the Trimble County Lady Raiders. All the talk in the 8th about the Dossett sisters is much deserved, but the Black sisters are worthy for some attention also. Page Black played a great game and deserved the MVP. Congrats to her! And her younger sister, Shelbe Black was phenomenal in the 4th and the biggest part of the Trimble comeback.

Wishing the Lady Raiders the best at the state All A.

Thought maybe she should have been MVP.
Thought maybe she should have been MVP.

I don't see how anyone could argue with that either. She put the team on her back in the biggest game of the tourney.

Congrats to Coach Stewart and the girls, and good luck in the All-A. Maybe this is the "Year of the Raiders" and they shake things up in the district and region, too.

Litkenhous would agree with you. Trimble rated third in the region behind Anderson and SK.... barring an unexpected late-season letdown, they will enter the district as the highest-rated team in the district.

Anyone remember the 1970s Trimble teams?

I remember, Colonel. A 1977 Gallatin grad. They were tough. Won the 8th in 1976, I believe.

And 81. Marcia Haney Dunaway was on both teams. She was a 7th grader on the 76 team and a senior on the 81 team.

Cut down the nets, Lady Raiders! Go blue and gold!

The 2013/14 Lady Raiders are considerably better than they have been in recent years, mainly due to a mixture of young and experienced talent. But being stuck in District Oldham since 2006 has made it seem that they have been bad every year, which is not the case. It will definitely be a three way race for 2 regional tournament spots, and it will be interesting to see how it shakes out.
