Untill then I don't see any reason for anyone to say what they would or would not do. At the end, coach Maynard will make the decision that he feels is best for him and his family. That's jmo.

Its hard to buy into his praises of Raceland when he doesnt even send his own children there.

Well you obviously haven't had a problem with it the last four years. Why is it a problem now? Just because he lives in another school district and his kids go there doesn't mean he doesn't put his heart into his job. He's not the only teacher or coach who have their kids In other districts, and that goes for the Raceland district as well.

 

I mean, this is his alma mater. Of course he's going to listen to what they have to say. Why wouldn't he? He went to school there and played there. Give the guy a break...

Why is it obvious that I haven't had a problem with it? Have I stated that somewhere that I am not aware of? I have never said he did not put his heart into his job, I simply said his heart was not at Raceland. He would be crazy to not take the job at Russell in his situation. I would say if Russell had been looking for a coach at the end of last season TJ would not have been their first choice so he is lucky in that aspect. I mean who wouldnt wanna coach where they played?

As for the bolded, from what I understand, from more than one person btw, is that his daughter, children were established at Russell, classmates, friend, kids they have grown up with-played sports with since youth, etc. all were there and they didn't really want to leave. I, bc I am a lifetime (56yr.) Ram as you are would like to see them at Raceland as well but guess what? That's not my decision, none of my business and further more I respect the man for thinking of is children and what is best for them. I have a sister that taught school in the Russell school district and her children went to Raceland bc she and her husband thought that it was the best for them and they wanted to. I can promise you that didn't , make her a bad person or cause her not to be dedicated to her job/students in the Russell district !. I personally don't have a problem with it. A mans family is his along with his wife's business, not mine. I didn't pay his bills, raise his kids, etc. so it's not my place.

 

I hope that Coach Maynard stays as the head coach at Raceland, imo he is an excellent coach - has proven that wherever he has been be it as an asst. or head coach. Besides, Russell is a rival, I respect them but I really don't want them to get him .

I had the wonderful opportunity to play for Maynard. And I now know why he was the winningest coach in Greenup's history. Coach Maynard is an excellent coach and he knows what he is talking about. And if Russell were to get him, then I look for Russell to continue their success. If he stays at Raceland, I see the same thing for the Rams. Where ever Maynard ends up, he's picking that school for a reason. And looking at both of scenarios, it's not only his decision, but his family's. Personally, I hope he stays in Raceland. Like oldrambler said, "Russell is a rival". Haha. But, he is running a great program at Raceland and I would love for him to keep running it.

The only reason I don't want to see him go is Raceland will replace him from within the program.There is no one on the staff I would like to see have the job.the longer this goes on the harder it will be for Raceland to find a good coach.Just wish if was over.There was a lot of coaching turn over this off season,more than i can remember there ever being.

I'd say considering the history of he program (1973-2013) he was pretty successful. Outside Trent's 1977 AAAA At Large Championship team (11-3) , Younce's 1978 team (8-2), & Dunaway's 1990 team (9-3) TJ had the most consistent success.
