Let's get the facts straight. I am going to respond to several posts, but before I do, I want everyone that doesn't already know, to know the following.

 

I keep the scorebook for Trimble County, so I can tell you when players were in the game and who scored what. As such, I have first hand knowledge, as opposed to some who are, at best, "misremembering" what occurred or at worst, weren't at the game and are making judgments without any knowledge besides the score.

I would hope the reserves played a lot and the starters rested for the semi's.

 

They did. Each starter played approximately 16 minutes.

Nope. Paige black played until the 4th. Steal and layup the whole game. Think Trimble scored over 25 points in the 4th quarter. Run and jump

 

Paige Black, who averages over 20 points a game, scored 10 points. She did not "play until the 4th." She played most of the 1st and 3rd, virtually none of the 2nd and none at all of the 4th.

 

Trimble scored 16 points in the 4th quarter, not over 25.

Please tell me Trimble didn't full court press for more than one quarter...?

 

Trimble pressed for six minutes. Total.

Looks like this was a classic example of running the score up. Starters in until the 4th quarter, run and jump defense, and steals/layups the entire game. You don't have to beat a team

 

Again, the starters were not "in until the 4th quarter." They played very little in the 2nd quarter at all.

 

Quarter by quarter scoring: 32 17 22 16

 

Does that look like a continued push to run up the score? Or does it show starters in the 1st, subs in the 2nd, starters back for part of the 3rd and subs in the 4th? The facts point to the later.

There has to be more to the story here. Bad blood between coaches or programs?

 

No bad blood at all. I would venture to say that Coach Stewart and Coach Adair are fond of each other. I'd also say that you'd be hardpressed to find a coach that has played against Kerrie Stewart that thinks that she is anything but first class. Just this past Saturday, I overhead Shelby County's coach tell Coach Stewart how much he respected her and comment on her character.

That message being "Fear us, look what we did to Eminence". I don't think that any team Trimble could face in the rest of the tournament would be intimidated by that. It's Eminence. They haven't won a game all year and I cannot recall the last time they beat Trimble, so I doubt this was payback. Just a coach getting caught up in the moment and not doing the right thing. Sad.

 

Absolutely not. Anyone that knows Kerrie Stewart knows that is not her personality at all.

When I've seen Trimble play, some of their players will invite the other team and coaches to join them at half court for prayer after the game. That is great...it really is. I just wonder how that went last night. :idunno: Just a thought, but if they were taking prayer request, one of the Eminence players could have suggested..."SPORTSMANSHIP". Duh!

 

Did you see Trimble play last night? If not, the prayer after the game was no different than the prayer after the close 2 point loss to Shelby County on Saturday. I'm glad that the girls pray after the game. At least they know what's important.

Or perhaps "HYPOCRISY". Coach Kerrie Stewart should be ashamed and I hope she reads this.

 

Where's the hypocrisy? There was no concerted effort to run up the score. The coaches and the players treated each other with respect, as opponents. The subs played half the game. Should they not have tried to score? If that's the case, Coach Stewart should have kept the varsity starters at home so they could practice, as honestly they would have gotten more out of it. Again...the starters played 16 minutes. How much do you think that is going to prepare them for the rest of the Class A Tournament?

So what you are saying in all of your replies is that the 87-5 score was justified in your mind. Correct?

Uh let's see...how did the game play out?

 

Trimble took the early lead. Eminence started a comeback with 3 points. Trimble answered with a SEVENTY THREE point run. Eminence threatened to comeback again with a 2 pointer. Trimble added some insurance with a 16 point 4th quarter.

 

What am I missing in how it played out? Was Eminence in foul trouble? Where the refs calling it tight and it just happen to favor Trimble? Trimble's bench is as good as their starting 5? The Trimble coach was going to give $5 for every point they scored to the Eminence coach's favorite charity?

 

Attempts can be made to try to put a spin on it or butter it up, but it is clear in how it played out. Trimble had the rare game opportunity to name the score and they chose to name it 87 to 5.

When I said "until the 4th" I meant she stopped playing when the 4th started. If She played most of the 1st and 3rd and "virtually" (which means she did play some) none of the 2nd, then that means she played "until " the 4th

True Blue...I think you might have been too offended to see a specific part of my post. I like how they pray after the game with the other team. Just as you, I am glad for it.

 

I think if your honest, you would have to laugh a little about the thought of just getting beat by 82 points, then getting asked if you want to pray together. It made me laugh when I thought about it.

 

I'm a praying man, but if after humiliating me by 82 points, you asked me to pray together, Ill have to tell you, it would be tough for me to join you that quick afterwards. Honestly, if Eminence accepted the invitation to pray with the Trimble players after getting unnecessarily rocked, that says more about their character than anyone else. Props to them for eating the humble pie for four quarters, then praying with the ones that fed it to them.
