Just got back.

 

It was a great day for football. Field was soaked due to the rains but playable. But weather was in the 50s and had some sun for most of the game.

 

Kentucky just had better skill players and was more ready. Kentucky hit harder and seemed to want it more. Lots of teamwork, players traded stickers on helmets. Tennessee had some massive linemen. But they could not leverage that, even on a 4th inches at the goal line.

 

Great showing by the overall Kentucky squad and coaching staff. Congratulations to all who played.

 

Daniels was Kentucky MVP. There were some other awards for both squads but I do not have the details.

Why in the world are they playing a Kentucky vs Tennessee All Star Game on a field like they played today? I saw a little on tv and it looked like a goat path.. You would think if this all star game was a big deal they could get a little better accomodations then that. Maybe this has something to do with why nobody really wants to play in it? :idunno:

For a natural turf field it is a top notch field. The field looked fine before the game. But with all the rain it was was saturated. So the area between the hash marks go real sloppy and the grass areas in flats were slick. It was raining up to 10 a.m. yesterday so the grounds keeper team did good with this.

 

And not sure who 'nobody' is. There was lot of statewide players from Kentucky playing yesterday.

Stands were full and the game was televised in 20 states. This will get bigger in future years.

The University of the Cumberlands has a very nice natural surface field. I realize the weather was a factor in the game conditions, but I have seen the field on several occasions and it is very nice.

Kids from all over the state played in this game... it was a great week for the kids and coaches who participated. The only part of the state not represented was Northern KY. Kids and coaches who aren't taking this game seriously are truly missing out. It was first class all the way around. The playing surface was muddy, but between the snow and freeze early in the week and the rain the nigh and morning before...it actually held up decent. Congrats to the kids who participated and competed at a high level!
