Geesh. What was the coach thinking? Morrison is a great kid so know it wasn't anything bad off court or in the locker room. Sending a message to the team by benching their best player doesn't make any sense.

He started the game so it couldn't have been anything off the court. I didn't see any blatant turnover or bad shot or anything that happened on the court. He was subbed out and never came back in. The only explanation is that there was an exchange when he came out that upset the coach enough to bench him for the rest of the game. I know you say it makes no sense but there are certainly instances where it could be warranted. (for example, what if he came out and said you are an awful coach or something like that). I highly doubt that is what happened I am just saying there are situations where it is warranted and there must have been a good reason. No coach likes to lose. Plus, isn't the message to the rest of the team: I believe in you and I think we can win without our best player.

Good post. Without knowing anything else about the situation besides what I've read, I'd say you are onto something. To put it in my terms, "something ain't right".

Coach was probably thinking sometimes a loss in early January may help you win a tough one in march.

Taylor is a saint, doubt that he'd ever talk back to The Coach. However, I agree that The Coach does this at least once a year to impress upon the players that The Coach is in charge, sometimes penalizing the best player to get others attention. This technique doesn't appear to be working.....0 sweet 16's in multiple regional tourney trips.

Just don't want it to reflect negatively on Taylor if he didn't do anything wrong.....
