Julian Tackett Has A Message For WKU......

What is the largest crowd we have seen for a 1A, 2A and 3A football title game? I am guessing the largest crowd ever for those classes can be handled at a lot of stadiums. If that is true, is there a city that has a smaller stadium (perhaps 5,000 capacity) where you could hold those games on Friday and then a larger stadium for 4A-6A on Saturday? Does that make any sense and/or help solve problems?

How many turf fields are there? A natural grass field automatically disqualifies a facility from hosting football.

I've said it before, I think Georgetown College would be a perfect place to hold the state championship games. Plenty of room and they have turf field.

Why do all the games have to be held at the same site? Would the labor and administrative costs increase too much if there were multiple sites? If you had 3 or even 2 sites, then you could get all six games done in one day and pay only one day's rent at the smaller venues and have less crowd and traffic problems. (BTW, who ever came up with the idea of calling the championships the "Gridiron Bowl" preceded by the KHSAA name and the sponsor's name? It's a tad overdone in my estimation.)

However you will be paying 2 sites worth of rent, 2 sets of staff to run the event, 2 sets of clean up crews security and such. Also you will have double the insurance cost. It is much cheaper via insurance to rent one facility multiple days than multiple sites.

Each University is different, however I can tell you from experience that you can rent Papa Johns stadium and the Trager center cheaper than you can Murry State, Morehead State, and EKU. Part of that is the deals you work out, but on the surface most smaller venues cost just as much if not more to rent, the add on cost (as Tackett is refering to) is where the cost can vary.

A ton of coaches and fans come to this event to watch all games. Moving them to multiple sites is a step backwards, IMO.

Georgetown would be a great location. Seating on both sides, the mentioned field turf now and central location. They used to host soccer in the past.

I agree and have stated that as well. It is somewhat central (let the discussion begin) and close enough to Lexington for the infrastructure to handle the volume of people needing whined/dinned/entertained. Plus it has a nice stadium that has turf.
