To be fair, it's sort of asking a lot of a high school ratings system run by a local paper anywhere in the state of Kentucky to come up with an accurate ratings system that properly captures the statistical significance of games played against out-of-state opponents, especially when the teams have only played around 10-15 games at most by this point in the year.

 

Sure, we can look at Ballard's results and see that they should obviously be the #1 seed in this tournament, but what about the Louisville schools who play bordering teams from Indiana who are ranked somewhere in the #500-#2500 overall teams in the nation?

 

All that said, I'm sure Ballard will be fine, even without the #1 seed.

The real winner here is PRP. Seeded under the radar and in the opposite bracket away from Trinity and Ballard. Looks like a free pass into the finals.

When they changed the tournament to this format a couple years ago, if generated this awesome result. Hate to see it undone by silliness with seeding. Trinity and Ballard are clearly the two best teams in town. No real problems with any other seeds.

Bullitt County is considered "Louisville metro", and the Bullitt County high schools are the only non Jefferson County schools in the 6/7 region.

Since the Bullitt County schools play in the same region as the "Louisville" schools, I think its fair that they participate in the LIT. The odd thing is obviously that Bullitt East is ranked number one and Ballard number three (most would agree that Trinity is good at two). Bullitt East has had a good start but really their "signature" win is over Collins? Even if you just want to consider KY games Ballard has beaten Scott County, NCC and Trinity. Easily alot better than any team Bullitt East has played. And to top if off Bullitt East blew off the LIT last year when they had star players Willis and Troutman.

 

Additionally, if all pans out Ballard and Trinity will play in the semifinals on Saturday at 1130. Consider a two hour game then a 30 minute haul back to the east side of Louisville then turn around and be back to play the finals at 2000. Its seems like a very unusual situation this guy has created.

Playing the LIT at Bellarmine was OK, but nothing was better than when they used to have it Downtown and play at Louisville Gardens.

And now this genius, "Wyman", has created the "Bullitt East" rule that any team that does not participate will be fined $2000 and be inelligible to play in the LIT the following year. I agree that it was a good opportunity but they still blew off the LIT.
