December 30, 201312 yr Author They're a joke. They've had what' date=' 6 coaches in the last 8 years? This team isn't close to winning. You have to give a coach a chance. Hell, they could've at least waited until he got his QB in there. Even the Raiders have given Dennis Allen more than a year.[/quote'] Dennis Allen and ownership were probably on the same page.
December 30, 201312 yr Dennis Allen and ownership were probably on the same page. Coaches are never on the same page as the Cleveland ownership. Hard to be when they don't even give you time to get your personnel in place.
December 30, 201312 yr Author Coaches are never on the same page as the Cleveland ownership. Hard to be when they don't even give you time to get your personnel in place. So he needs his own personnel in place in order to hold his players to a higher standard and discipline them?
December 30, 201312 yr So he needs his own personnel in place in order to hold his players to a higher standard and discipline them? They have no talent. Haden, Thomas, Gordon, and Cameron. Everyone else is simply average. You can't be successful without talent. Ownership said they wanted to see progress, and that in the second half of the season they didn't see that progress. That comes down to talent. Hard to progress when your roster is full of guys that would be lucky to be active on Sunday's most places.

Browns are bad on offense, not as bad on defense, have little to no depth, and no leader on the team. Browns had winnable games in the second half of the season and blew multiple games. Players aren't progressing as they should have and some regressed. Obviously you can't expect much from McGahee and the QB situation but there are plenty of other players who could have played better but didn't. All of that isn't on the coach but part of it is and that with his problems keeping the locker room together wasn't going to work out no matter his personnel or QB.
December 30, 201312 yr Author Rex Ryan is being retained by the Jets according to Trey Wingo Really not even according to him. Owner came into locker room after the win and told the team they were keeping him. There's actually a video of it on BGP I think. He deserved to be retained anyway. Stupid to have fired him after this season.
December 30, 201312 yr ^ I just seen it on twitter like 5 minutes ago. Trey mentioned it about 30 minutes ago.
December 30, 201312 yr Browns as a team are not "the laughing stock of the league" as a front office and organization they are. Teams fire coaches after one season all the time. At the time maybe they seemed like the right fit but if they've lost the locker room within one season and they are passive and won't discipline players then he doesn't fit the ownerships philosophy and obviously it's not going to work out. Sounds to me like neither the ownership or the GM knows how to evaluate and interview head coaches. Regardless of how Chudzinksi interviewed, you would think management would have done their homework better, especially given the amount they paid him.

Offensively, if the RB and QB situations are a joke, isn't it hard for any of the others to really show anything? I mean, they can't throw the ball to themselves. Only Gordon looked good, and that's because you literally just have to throw it in his general direction. I think you're being way too hard on Chud. Most people around the league think it's a joke that he's gone already. Hell even Joe Thomas, the closest thing the Browns have to a leader, said it was ridiculous he was fired.
December 30, 201312 yr Jay Glazer @JayGlazer 2m Greg Schiano and Mark Dominik have been fired! So Bill O'Brien to the Texans, Schiano to Penn State....Everyone's happy.

Regarding people being surprised or shocked that he's fired I haven't seen much of that. The NFL people on ESPN weren't surprised and stated his discipline problems being the reason they let him go. As with Thomas commenting on it I'm not surprised. I mean certain players like certain coaches. I'm sure he was well liked by some and not others. It's like that with every coach on every team.
