National AAU Championships to Louisville

Featured Replies

The Amateur Athletic Union has announced that its high school boys national championships and Gold Super Showcases for grades 10-12 will be held in Louisville for 3 years beginning in 2014, per Eric Crawford of WDRB. Evidently, this is quite a coup for the City of Louisville.

That's fantastic.

That's the biggest news of the week. Huge for Kentucky.

Sweeeeetttt!!!!!!!! I may have to see if a buddy of mine in that area may have a spare bedroom or two that I can put to good use. :D

Yeah. Big news. Not only for basketball fans but for the city. Full South Wing of the Fair and Expo Center booked up evidently and something like a total of 8,500 hotel stays.

Not to mention...area bloggers, writers, etc. can attend the tournament without travelling to Florida.

What does that mean? Hotels are booked up already?

Will hotel prices rise during this period also?

This is a big recruiting advantage for area colleges, as well. I picture a lot of fans coming out to support potential targets.

Good point. Do you have to obtain a press pass for this event?

It seems that every AAU event is different but I assume you'll have to have a pass.

Count on it Jack!

No telling, but I'd imagine that number is the total number of rooms multiplied by the number of days of the event. This is relatively small event by the standards of the things that REALLY book the city solid like the FFA Convention.

Anyone know how long it had been in Orlando?

When and how does one go about applying for a pass?

I was there with a team 10 years ago. The milkhouse is sweet.
