December 19, 201312 yr Already heard it. ad nauseum. I can't hate on a dude who is getting paid top dollar while taking a pay cut. I agree. Kobe should get every penny he can from the Billionare owner. Just a bad contract on Lakers part. If there weren't a cap I'd say Kobe deserves 50 million based on past accomplishments and bringing the TV deal. But there is a cap. Going to be a long few years for Lakers fans. Which makes me happy during the Holiday's because I can mock the Lakers fan in the family.
December 19, 201312 yr In hindsight, the Lakers should have just amnestied Kobe. Even without hindsight, many thought they should have. Does he deserve to have that happen to him? Maybe not, but it seems like his body is going out and the Lakers did not need that hit on their payroll. And that's not blaming Kobe. If you can get it, get it. But the Lakers should not have been the ones to give him that.

If you are going to pay 20-30 mil for something you better get something out of it. Secondly, he has been the face of the Lakers for over a decade, no way you burn the bridge like that. The smart move would have been a more economic deal around 10-12 mil a year instead of the extension he signed for 20 and 25 respectively. That is the smartest thing the Lakers could have done IMO.
December 22, 201312 yr The Lakers have mad cap money to spend next season and they know they are not making the playoffs this season. So Kobe is resting so he can be fresh next season, when they will make a championship run.
December 22, 201312 yr when they will make a championship run. Who have they signed already? Not sure what makes you think they'll automatically make a run at the championship next year. They are rebuilding and Kobe is another year older coming off a second surgery. Even of they attract 1 big name I doubt they'll be able to convince others to follow. Shoot, they couldn't even sign Howard and they could offer him quite a bit more money.
December 23, 201312 yr In listening to sports talk radio out of Calf there seems to be a lot of talk of the Lakers chasing two or three of the biggest 2014 free agents and doing all they can to get two of them. Time will tell.
