December 11, 201312 yr The company I work for has always provided insurance for our families for free. Never cost us anything. The new bids that our company got this year doubled the cost of the family plan. Our wives and kids have to sign up for Obama care because they are only offering for the workers now. The plan that I got quoted has the out of network for Vanderbilt at $25,000.00. This is a silver plan.
December 11, 201312 yr Not sure where the name Affordable comes into play...by all accounts the premiums are higher, the out of pocket is higher, the deductible is higher and the coverage is lower with fewer doctors and hospitals available.
December 11, 201312 yr They couldn't call it the more expensive, providing you with coverage you don't want or need, lose your plan and doctor care act could they? The dems were so determined to push SOMETHING through that they settled for this mess and now it's biting them in the butt. How bad would it have been if the caveat-in-chief hadn't decided the change the law of the land (that couldn't be changed when the last budget battle happened)?
December 12, 201312 yr First, I am a registered Democrat living in Lewis Co. Actually, I am probably only one of 10 registered Democrats living in Lewis Co.(I'm exaggerating, but only slightly). At any rate, my health insurance got cancelled, so I had to sign up for this. We chose an option that was comparable to the policy we have had for over 20 years and it is going to cost us $175 more PER MONTH. We just did this yesterday and I am FURIOUS. I can't even begin to say all of the things that I think are wrong with this, plus what it is going to do to our country. We're already in a bad place. If I turn out to be wrong, I will be the first to say so. But I have no faith in the federal government managing anything fiduciary-wise anymore, let alone adding something as complicated as health insurance and health care. Bah humbug. Don't feel so bad. It seems that mostly Democrats are the ones who seem to be the most surprised about this. Some of us knew for a couple years this would cost us more. The entire premise that this is "affordable care" is a joke. This will only get worse. The lies keep piling up.
December 12, 201312 yr My plan didn't change, however premiums have doubled. Didn't pay much to begin with, so not a real impact, but the costs have definitely increased.

'Your going to pay through the nose Health Care Act' was too long.
December 13, 201312 yr 'Your going to pay through the nose Health Care Act' was too long. Bend Over Health Care Act has a nice ring to it.
December 13, 201312 yr Bend Over Health Care Act has a nice ring to it. Just don't throw your back out while bending over, your Heath Care Act might not cover it. :irked:
