Mariners Offering Cano 10 Yrs / $230-$240M???

Featured Replies

Worst. Contract. Ever.

Meh, I think A-Rod still has the better of Cano on that one. Well at the very least for the time being...

Oh and lets not forget about Bobby Bonilla's LOL contract with the Mets.

He will earn about 4-5 years of this.

4 is safer to say.

Hopefully that puts the Yanks in the running for a BP trade.

They said they had the money to get 2 high level bats....Sounds like they weren't fooling around.

I'm curious as to what Jay's role was in the negotiations.

So a 31 year old with 162 game averages of 24 HRs 94 RBI and slash line of .309 .355 .504 .860 is worth $240M. Yikes...

Rumors are that they are going after David Price via trade as well.

Ty Cobb would make $1 Billion a year if he posted his lifetime #'s in today's market.

Apparently they were confident $225 over 9 years was enough, and Jay Z got Cano to "walk" when they wouldn't meet the 10 year $252 demands. Clearly it worked.

From what I've read it was CAA agent Van Wagenen who handled the entire process.

Can't wait to see ticket prices in 5-10 years.
