So did anything ever come of this? Pretty obvious there was no racist intent here though these guys I am sure have been raked through the coals.

Worst thing like this I've heard of going on was a high school game at Corbin against OBI in the All-A Classic. Corbin had students waving nooses and confederate flags. Yea… they weren't very subtle.

There were a couple of kids who did something stupid like this at a game against OBI at Williamsburg in the All A 10-12 years ago, but the school officials removed them from the gym when they were seen. I think a couple of kids were suspended, maybe should have been expelled.

Yep. This was in 2003, so it was before fans having smartphones with cameras capable of getting stuff like this on film was prevalent. Considering the explosion of smartphones and how things go viral on social media, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we're hearing about Corbin having some incident that's gone viral unless something has changed.

 

If one person has a camera phone and tapes something like that and sends it to a news station or something similar, there would probably be heads rolling.

 

I'm also going to take your "unbelievable" as a sign that you've never been to Corbin and aren't familiar with it. I'm guessing that if you were, you'd be saying "doesn't surprise me".

 

Not trying to stereotype the whole town or anything, and everyone there isn't like that. I have family in Corbin myself who attended Corbin High School. I will say that on the whole, the town has somewhat of a reputation as being pretty racist.

The year was 2003, it was my senior year in high school. KHSAA does list the game as a home game for Corbin. If it wasn't there, sorry for any mix-up. I grew up in Oneida and knew a lot of people who attended that game that came back talking about it.

It's amazing how we can judge a group of kids without knowing the whole story. Luckily they weren't eating watermelon, that would have really nailed them down.
