Raceland comes into the game averaging almost 39 points per game while giving up just under 14. Williamsburg comes in averaging almost 38 points while giving up just under 12, so, the #s are very similar. The Rams 2 losses are to Ashland and Lawrence Co, in 2 tightly contested games, while Williamsburgs 2 losses were to Wayne Co and N.Laurel, in 2 games that weren't that close. I think the 2 Jacket losses were to better teams, however. Overall, I'd give the edge to Raceland as far as the entire schedule goes, but, I feel both teams have challenged themselves enough to be prepared for the type game coming up Friday night, so, I don't really think that will be a factor. Raceland's defense against Pikeville, only allowing 3 points was very impressive, but, Williamsburg's defense has pitched 5 shutouts in there last 7 games and Hazard's 7 points were the 1st points they've given up in the playoffs, so, that's impressive, too. I think there's a misconception regarding the Jackets, as most people regard them as a spread offense, big play, outscore you type team and that did seem to be the case last year, but, this years version plays great on both sides of the ball with a stingy D and they have no problem running the ball and utilizing the short to intermediate pass game to move the chains and taking what the D gives them. The Rams have a nice balance on offense, a fundamentally sound D and nice size and athleticism in the trenches. In saying all this, I would almost call this game a push as I could make a case for either and not be wrong. I do feel it'll be a fairly low scoring game and a game of wills and seeing who'll finally take advantage when they get a break, because I think you'll see several back and forth 3 and outs. Field position will be big, special teams will be big and the kicking game will be big. When all's said and done, I think I'd give a slight edge to W'Burg mainly due to home field advantage and being solid all year on special teams. WBurg 17 Raceland 13

Nice assessment MHS. Can't argue with any of your points. Both teams are tested and have done some great things to get where they are. I see it as a toss up type game. Both have good defenses and both have powerful offenses. I think we will just have to see how the ball bounces.

Kicker is David Pennington, a first year senior player. He has really developed into a pretty darn good high school kicker. He's kicked several field goals though the season. I think his long is 37 yards (in game).

Actually, i believe his longest is 32 yards, but he's capable of kicking farther.

It's a very small stadium with not a lot of visitor seating. Honestly never been much of a need for it very few teams have ever brought a big crowd to the Burg.
