Problem or mere coach-speak?

Problem if this team ever wants to really be a contender. But this is a mediocre team, in a mediocre town. I would expect nothing less.

Problem or mere coach-speak?

I love the answer "Fans do what they do because they don't know what was supposed to happen" Does that mean the interceptions were designed interception plays? lol

Marvin is a big reason why it's so hard to get excited about this team. He is as much of the problem as MB has been.

If Dalton is his answer and it sounds like they are already llooking at signing Dalton to a long term deal tells me they aren't interested in winning a SB but would rather just continue on the road of mediocrity.

Neither.

Fair enough, then what do you make of the comments?

You would think he is saying that there are times a route is run incorrectly and an interception results. I remember hearing about that when the QB's had a lot of interceptions with Chad Johnson. With that said, they can't run that many routes incorrectly, can they?

I think he feels Dalton is going to be the QB of the Bengals for the foreseeable future. That's not coach-speak, nor is it a problem.

It is only not a problem if the Bengals are diligent and can't find a suitable replacement. If they merely settle on Dalton, and bring nobody into to challenge him, then it is a major problem. This is a Super Bowl caliber team. Dalton, until he can convert more consistently on 3rd down, is not a Super Bowl QB.

All he has to do for them to be legit contenders is not turn the ball over. He's very capable of doing that.

Chad Johnson & TO certainly could. I used to spend most of the games watching Chad Johnson "run" routes. I yelled at him individually a few times one year when Pittsburgh came to town and beat the Bengals. It caught his attention because afterward, we actually had a conversation about how he wasn't running his routes the way he should be.

It was painful to watch.

I don't think the Bengals have any intention of finding a "suitable replacement". I'm with UKMF, it is neither a problem nor coach-speak. Dalton will have a monster extension in February, be prepared.

As an observer, that is a problem for me. He can't consistently move the ball. It is very, very difficult for a "feast or famine" type QB to win when it matters most. That is 3-4 games in-a-row in January.

All he has to do for them to be legit contenders is not turn the ball over. He's very capable of doing that.

No, he has to put drives together. He has to convert on third down. He can't have 4 consecutive 3-5 play drives during the playoffs. The Bengals don't need to be the Broncos. They need to be able to run the ball. You can't do that consistently if you can't convert on 3rd and 3 or 4.

You're right...he is very capable........................of turning the ball over.
