Murray is a big, strong, physical team and there losses are to really good teams, Mayfield, Graves Co, Bryan Station and Caldwell Co, and they were very competitive in 3 of the 4. I suspect they'll be a tougher out this time around, just not sure they're strong enough offensively to keep up with the Caldwell offense for 4 quarters. CC is going to make some big plays and score some points and there D is better than given credit for, so, Murray will need to play a flawless game and get a few breaks along the way to have a chance, but, I think when all's said and done, CC will win this by a couple of scores. I'd say somewhere in the range of 35-21.

If I remember the first game was closer than the score indicated correct?

Not really. Murray had a lot of yards, but their pass defense is horrible. Not a good thing versus Caldwell County.

Murray held Caldwell to its lowest point total of the season in the first meeting.

I'm not sure that means anything, other than Caldwell's offense is really, really good!

If I'm Murray, I take a page from the Union playbook. I hold as many Caldwell receivers as I can and hope to get away with it enough to make a few stops.

If you can do that, and mount enough time-consuming drives to limit Caldwell's total possessions in the game to only 9-10 — and finish drives with touchdowns — then Murray can make a game of it.

My final this week: Caldwell 49, Murray 28.

Murray held Caldwell County to a season low point total of 42 points. They may have held something back in the regular season. At least I hope they did, as their pass defense was non-existent. Caldwell County threw it over the top of Murray's defense over and over.

Caldwell has a tendency to go for too many home runs. Trying to throw passes 50 yards to make a big impact. If this team is just taking what they are given, they are completely unstoppable. I am in no way saying that if the 50 yard bomb is open, don't take it. I am just saying that take what is open no matter its length. The wide receivers on this team are way to good. Throw them a five yard pass and their YAC will make the 50 you are looking for.

The first meeting could have been a barn burner! Murray had 3 or 4 trips inside the redzone and came away empty handed. The forcast is calling for rain and that will either play into a Murray advantage or it will be a Caldwell advantage depending on who can adapt between the Caldwell recievers or the Murray DB's. I guarentee one thing, the Tigers win!

I think Caldwell is better but Murray knocked off the #1 team in the state about this time last year so you never know, espically on a wet field

The wet forecast does not bother me. I believe the Mayfield fans that have been on here will agree with me that Caldwell County has a good running game to go with the great passing game. Jaylen Boyd will be relied on a little more this week than some of the past weeks to provide offense. Those that have seen Caldwell County play know that the passing game will open up the holes in the defense for Jaylen to run through.

Finally someone that understands that the Caldwell passing game leads to the big running game. Not to take away from Jaylen's ability, but the holes have to be created somehow. This is not conventional wisdom (running opens up the passing game). Teams have to defend the pass against Caldwell. Too explosive not to, but when they do the running game takes over and Jaylen is one hell of a RB.
