According to coaches I talked to, the film clearly shows that the Dixie's receiver's knee was down when he caught the ball, then he got hit and the ball came out. So by rule, it should have been a completion, first down. No idea if they would have scored, but they missed the call.

 

Evens out play before that Moore scrambles 30 yards back and a block in the back missed by the refs.

Congrats to the Pioneers on pulling out the victory, but from what I saw Dixie played the better game. Still scratching my head by a couple of the play calls and the wasted timeout by Dixie. Also, why did they abandon the running game that was so good on their drive to take the 14-13 lead, Simon Kenton could not stop it.?????

With plenty of time remaining and time outs Dixie leaves the successful run. Both defenses were tremendous. Dixie was in a position to win and didn't execute. The fumble recovery and the kickoff return for the TD were the difference. Congrats to the Pioneers on the district title after losing to Dixie for consecutive seasons.

 

We may see a rematch in the regional championship. Prayers to the Brossart family and Dixie squad this long weekend. That was a great effort Colonels, walk tall and heads up! :thumb:

I checked with some officials on this. They said that the thinking is that on a bang bang play the receiver needs to main control through the contact. It was also said you could post video and get a 50/50 split from officials on whether it was a catch or not.

Sometimes you have to give up on wanting the balanced offense and go with who you are. Dixie is not a good passing team. They are a very good running team. IMO they should throw the ball less than ten times every game. Run the ball, run the ball and run the ball some more. The more they pass, the less their chances of winning.

I know Dixie's players really wanted this. Had the blessing to meet Kris and Dave pre-cancer. Wonderful woman and wonderful man. Props to Dave for coaching, and props to the Dixie and Simon Kenton players for laying it all out there on the field. Sounds like it was a great game.

I like how Kelly helped the Dixie player up after the hit. Great sportsmanship and respect to show on such a big play with emotions at a peak.
