Don't you think standing out on scout team will get you noticed? It does. There are sev players that played on scout team last year or year before who got noticed and broke onto the starting lineup.

I'm curious who you think should be starting that isn't.

That's just it. Some of the boys are making improvements on the scout team, BUT the don't get the chance to learn the Cooper system because all they pretty much do is run the opposing teams defense and offense week after week. I know scout work is needed, but you need to continue to develop at least down to a complete set of 2's and 3's ( if you're developing a "program"). I'm not talking about any specific player breaking into the starting line up, I'm talking about players being able to contribute when a player goes down, needs a blow or simply isn't performing. I've watched every game, and some of these boys are simply getting blown out on plays because they're worn out from going both ways nearly every play. Not mention it puts them at risk for injury playing half gassed. This group simply doesn't have the physical build of last years team to withstand that.

What does playing at the JV level do for your program if you don't practice what the team runs. Yes, they know the plays from getting a rep or two at practice through the week, but it's basically scatter football from what i see.

Hellbird, that's what you're not getting about my comments. This is High school football and if a player has the athleticism to be on the field with Varsity, as a coach you need to find a way to work them into the system. If you continue to play 14 to 15 kids a year (as Cooper has) you will never develope a platooning system that can come out the gate right away. If my son as a Senior has a Junior or Soph in front of him, he had better darn well work to beat them out. I never expect a kid to be on the field just because they're a Senior, but I'm not the coach.

Unfortunately the Cooper program is divided for that reason. They're are so many kids not playing for that reason, they've seen the righting on the wall. I'm definitely not frustrated as result of my kids playing time, but I am disappointed in the development process of all the boys that aren't in that 15 minute Friday night limelight.

I will not speak for the boys on the team, but if you haven't heard it in the stands from others or even your own kid, you're missing out. I am one of the last people to want to ruffle feathers in a program, but I would like to see a program developed and not 14 kids each year. I am with a crowd of many that see it now and have seen in the past years. It really doesn't matter what the parents or players think, because this apparently is how it's going to be. I just hope the kids stick with it, because other options are out there.

The JV does run the same scheme as the varisty. As far as developing more than just 14 kids each year, well I think they do their best.

I think Morgan and Fussinger have a big game and get the win.

Fussinger is a beast, will have a field day against that Conner _efense, but it ultimately won't be enough.

I think he is absolutely Cooper's best player.

Clever.

Andrew Way will have a huge night. Cooper better account for him. He has been a beast against everyone. Just ask SK. Unstoppable.

Somehow he has had a quiet year. Playmaker.

.....and an even better kid!! I'm a huge fan.

Since we are on the subject...........Andrew Way is not only a great kid, but great student, leader and football player. Many here may not know this, but he will be joining lifelong friend and teammate, Drew Barker in San Antonio, TX in early January. Andrew will be there as a Top Ten National Finalist for the US Army All-American Award for Excellence. Andrew was chosen from thousands of nominees for his outstanding contributions to the NKY community, his off the chart grades in the classroom and the leadership he provides every Friday night on the football field. Andrew is like a swiss army knife, he does it all. I am proud to say I have known him for nearly his entire life and I love this kid. If you ever have any health issues later in life, there is a very good chance you will look up and say hello Dr. Way. He comes from a great family and is a great football player. I am inserting the link that tells more about his nomination. I truly hope he wins this, it would so deserving. I am told there is only one other school in the country that has a player in the game and a nominee for this prestigious award. Speaks volumes about Conner High School and the Class of 2014. Good luck to you and your team tomorrow night Andrew, people like you make the world a better place. If any posters here on BGP ever see Andrew after a game or out in public, feel free to congratulate him. He deserves it.

......

Well said Roman Empire. As polite, kind, and bright as you'd find in a young man. I'm sure his mom and dad are proud and realize how special he is.

To be fair, his older brother Austin was also an outstanding student athlete at Conner.

Andrew really is a great kid!! Loved watching him from the first time he put on his pads, wish him nothing but the best in his future.

This game tonight should be a blast!!

This rivalry has gronw by leaps and bounds in a very very short time. Last years game at Conner was absolutely packed to the hilt.

This year they are starting an annual tradition. A Conner/Cooper Tailgate party that starts I believe at 5pm and will take place on the Cooper Football Practice field for both fan bases and will have local restaurants etc. with food etc. Something like $10 a person and all you can eat and drink etc. with the proceeds going to both schools boosters.

What a great idea!!! Should be a great thing for years to come and will only build this rivalry even more!!!!!

Can't wait for the game and can't wait to meet up with some good friends and some BGP'ers!
