I'm no expert, just a KY boy exiled to TN. Just trying to add a small bit of knowledge from the other side of the border. I will say this. You talk about D2 powers to folks that follow Prep football in TN and McAllie is rarely mentioned. No slap, just a domination by the Big 3 (all from Nashville area) in D2 Private bracket plus the Murfreesboro Class 6A teams (Blackman, Oakland, Riverdale, etc.), Memphis Whitehaven & Maryville rule TN's largest public class. It is so hard to compare teams from one state to another. I am just proud when any KY team is mentioned nationally. I catch so much flak "down here" about how great TN football is compared to KY. I lived in Dallas-Fort Worth for 3 years so it's all in one's perspective. I always counter with TX vs. TN football. Keeps them humble ....

We get it Guru...you don't think BG should be ranked...if BG beats Blackman then you'll start a "Is Blackman really representative of quality TN football and how should this affect if BG should really be ranked" thread. As a BG supporter who pays money to be a part of this site, it just gets a little old seeing these same-themed threads pop up over-and-over-and-over-and-over-and-over again.

When they give you flak you need to bring up the KY/TN Allstar game. KY was close to dominating it towards the end and from our perspective that is why TN jumped ship.

Nationally ranked polls are meaningless anyway. Who is to say Texas and California this year have the best teams? Is it because they are always listed year after year? They haven't played the best teams in the country because no one can ever prove who the best teams in the country are. They play teams that are "Considered" the best by these pollsters but that doesn't mean they actually are. It's all reputation and nothing more and the reputation is all mythical in the first place.

 

So who really cares if BG is nationally ranked or not. St X was before the season yet no one was saying they shouldn't be, and BG beat St X. So why is it always BG that gets questioned about being ranked. There are other teams in KY that are ranked, why not question them?

BG has over a two year winning streak in the second largest class in KY and they've beat a top 3 KY program the past 3 years during the streak. I think with the added notice Trinity has brought to KY, Bowling Green has been discovered. Good for them and good for the state.

I don't need to, this was the thread created and talking about BG and that is what I'm talking about. This same thread has been created 3 times already in the last month. I'm just curious what the beef is with BG? They've proved they are deserving by winning EVERY GAME over the past 2+ years. Not sure what the beef with them is.

Then why single out BG? What is the formula for having Trinity ranked? What is the formula for having Booker T Washington ranked?

 

We do agree on one thing, that the national rankings are bogus, but it is bogus for all the teams, not just 1.

 

No one has been able to answer your question because no one here is on the committee that ranks the teams and don't know how they come up with their Oscar Mayer Bologna in the end.

 

I'm also curious what rankings are you looking at? The one's I have looked at don't have any KY schools in the top 25.

The problem even then is the small sample size of crossover state games and the several degrees of separation between states. Ky plays some games against a few states like TN, OH, IN. The connection between Ky and TX for example would have to go through TN games against ARK teams and ARK teams vs TX. See how diluted that becomes mathematically?

Additionally, computer rankings also involve the dreaded magic number assigned to each team.

That's why I asked what rankings you are looking at, the 2 I have looked at doesn't have a single KY team ranked in top 25
