Don't want to beat a dead horse but BG did something that very few public schools could do this past Friday night in beating McCallie. There were 4 kids (2 of them are Sophs!) For McCallie who were true speedsters. The rb runs a 4.36 40. He is first player i have seen that caught up with Fant to make a tackle on him. Unless you were there and saw the crowd (and the money) you will never know how fortunate Purples were to get out of there. I have watched Purples for a long time and that was a top 5 team we havehave played ever! If Blackman is better you need to make every effort to be at that game.

With that said, Fant (and Hayes) with help of very underrated o line are so good. Fant may have better people guard him but will not have someone faster guard him still was best player on field. Numbers never lie.

TENNESSEE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL POWER RATINGS & RANKINGS

 

The latest Sonny Moore power ratings for the entire state of Tn had McCallie at #15.. Blackman is currently rated #4.. That puts Blackman ahead of MBA, BA, Oakland, MUS and several other big-time powers. This was prior to this past weeks games.

I know the Tennessee prep people are smarter than me but no way 14 schools in TN are better than McCallie.

Is that kind a like the Lit ratings in KY?

According to the Massey Ratings, McCallie is #10 in Tn.

 

You can change the state to Ky if you want to check out those ratings. Trinity is #1, Highlands #2 and BG #3, according to this service.

The LIT rating seem to get more accurate as the season goes by. It seems to be a little quirky in the first half of the season.

People always say that, but after everyone plays 10 games I can tell you is good and who is not.

I have not seen McAllie or BG play. That being said, Moore's ratings have (5) D2, Class 2 teams (Ensworth, BA, MBA, Memphis Univ., Baylor), D2, Class 1 defending State champ Knoxville Webb, (5) D1, Class 6A (including State champ Memphis Whitehaven, runners-up Maryville, Blackman, Oakland, Seigel - we get them Thursday night), Class 5A power Henry Co. (who beat us soundly earlier this year) plus (2) D1, Class 4A programs Greeneville and Fulton. Historically, McAllie is normally rated behind most of these programs. Anytime you can go on the road (especially another state) and get the W .... hats off to the Purples!

Can you tell us something about how Blackman plays? Offence - run/pass oriented. Defence - great line or linebackers, Etc.?

Blackman has a very good dual threat QB, two quality RBs and at least one dangerous WR. As with most of the Murfreesboro 6A teams, they will be huge on both lines and deep. Even after Stewarts Creek HS opened and took some enrollment, they still have more than 2,000 kids. That district is not for the weak! We scrimmaged Oakland and they looked like the TN Titans. Wish I could see this game. I hear the Purples have it rolling.

You're welcome. Hoping for a KY victory from the Purples (I'm a former Madisonville/Franklin-Simpson/Danville/Boyle Co. resident). Those Murfreesboro Class 6A teams are just beasts!! We scrimmaged Oakland in August and they roll out at least two D1 lineman (all over 6'2" 275) & three D1 prospects at the skilled positions. We are defending 5A champs and size-wise we looked like a freshman team playing a varsity team. Blackman is comparable though Oakland, Riverdale & Smyrna are the traditional heavies in Murfreesboro/Rutherford County. A few years ago, one of the HS Prep publications listed that District as one of the toughest in the nation. No argument from me on that point.
