This was one of the strangest games I ever witnessed...a real Friday the 13th type of game. Murray had 18 points and 2 first down at the half. Mayfield was incredibly flat to start the game...zero energy. After an 80 yard TD run, an interception, and a blocked punt, the Cardinals found themselves down 18-0. Mayfield returned the kick for a touchdown and the comeback was on.

Fantastic job by the Cardinal defense tonight....the final stats are going to show just how good they played tonight. We always celebrate a win over Murray.

Both Ds were strong. Mayfield only scored 13 points on offense.

Hey, all credit goes to the Murray defense, but we moved the ball all night long only to self destruct....not something Mayfield usually does...I 'll be interested to see the stats on this one..

Weird game. I never felt out of the game even after trailing 18 points. Murray never moved the ball except for the 80 yard run and he should have been stopped at the line. Murray got themselves in position to win this game but Murray had zero passing game and that's what did them in. I don't know if this was a let down game or what. I don't think Mayfield's line did especially well. We couldn't open up holes like we have been. Mayfield will have to play better next week against Graves or they will get beat. Murray had 3 1st downs the whole night.

I agree. Murray was way more impressive on defense than offense.

About what I had thought scorewise in the prediction thread, but just a round about way of getting to those numbers. With PT last week, a bruising physical game the previous week with the Stangs and crosstown rival Graves next week, I thought they might come down to earth in this one. Would expect a sharper, motivated performance next week, but it should be another tight game. Parity reigns supreme this year with Mayfield, McCracken, Tilghman, Graves, Murray all very close.

That is the key in defending the spread.

While Mayfield moved the ball they were having to work for it all night. Not as if they were tacking off 20 yard plays left and right like they are used to. They still only scored 1 offensive TD.

If Murray had some kind of passing game they would be scary good. They were one of the best tackling teams I have seen. Both teams played their hearts out and really gave the crowd a show. I really liked seeing the great sportsmanship from both teams. Hats off to the Tigers and a Big Congrats to the Cardinals on the win. These close games have got to stop. :eek:

I have a feeling you may be in for another barn burner next week. Smoother sailing ahead though... For both squads.

So Murray had 114 total yards, and 80 of those came on one play in the first quarter...so Mayfield held them to 34 total yards the rest of the game...good job guys.
