Losing Thomas would definitely be a blow. He was starting on both sides of the ball. However, this Beechwood team is very deep in talent at the skill positions. For example, when Thomas went out and Stringer moved to the backfield, that led to Carter Burns getting playing time at receiver and he was a starter last year. On the defensive side, Carter's cousin Jeremy Burns stepped in at Thomas' CB position and he is possibly the fastest player on the team. The Tigers have good, talented players that can and will step up if necessary.

 

Let's hope the injury isn't serious. Best wishes to Mitch. He has worked so hard and it is finally his turn as a senior. My fingers are crossed that he is able to return to the field soon.

 

If the Tigers lose Mitch (for the year) it will be a huge blow. Seems like a repeat (Gage Erdman) of last year. I realize this team is a lot deeper than years past, but having a senior at RB who has been there for three years is a little different than having a sophomore step in and be "the guy". I will say that the Stringer is a great football player and will compete, but I was looking forward to seeing them both play at high levels for the Tigers this year. For those who attended what NKY/Cincy team would you compare Lima to from a talent perspective? BW winning a game with not much offense absolutely counts as a "good win."

As I posted in another thread Lima Sr. is not good and has not been for years.

 

Must have been an really off night for B-Wood or Lima after years of being one of the worse teams in the state has finally started turning things around.

Lima used to be a D1 school(they may still be) with a lot of athletes. Probably something similar to a good Ballard or PRP team. They won a D1 state title in the late 90's. Idk what they look like now thgh but just based on the enrollment difference and the athletes Lima produces I'd say it was a good win for Beechwood. I was actually surprised to see these two teams play but I love the odd match up!

This one was painful to watch. Saw a bad team with a little discipline beat a bad team with no discipline. At least Lima showed flashes and was entertaining to watch. BW was just bad. OLine is going to be a real issue. There was no room to run between tackles, and they have a rb who is clearly uncomfortable running in that space, yet kept calling it. When the other team has more yards in penalties than you have in offense, that is alarming. I saw a QB who seemed to be very antsy in pocket. Throws a nice ball, but that is only part of playing QB. When he did deliver a good ball, BW receivers dropped it. Not sure who called fake punt on 4th and about 10 from inside their own 20, but he should be packing his whistle. Not sure who called the fb dive on first down with a minute to go and Lima out of timeouts, but he too should be done. Lima was awful. A team like SK or Conner would have hung 60 on them. If BW plays like that next week Dixie will be playing their JV by the half.

Think Conner with Holmes' athletes. I don't think Lima is as good as Conner. They made a ton of mistakes. But they play the spread offense and have a lot of good athletes. If their new coach is as good as his record shows, Lima will get back close to where they were 15 years ago when they won the Ohio D1 state championship.

Along the lines of what Eye just said, I talked to someone today that was at the game and he described Lima as Holmes 2.0
