I really like Clowney's chances. The Michigan hit last year being played throughout the summer, along with clips of him doing things like flipping tackling sleds definitely don't hurt his chances.

For my sleeper, a guy whose name isn't getting lots of press, but whose someone that I could see being a finalist is incoming freshman wideout Ricky Seals-Jones of Texas A&M. I think a freshman Aggie winning it all last year is gonna hurt him, but man oh man, does this kid have TALENT.

..........

Clowney has virtually no shot -- he has become so over-hyped over one monster hit. He is a great college DE, but he has risen to nearly mythical levels.

I'm no UL guy, far from it, but Teddy wins the trophy if he is healthy all year. Braxton Miller is 2nd. Decent chance those two are flipped.

Clowney had some lofty expectations coming in.

#1 recruit in the nation, and he & Marcus Lattimore staying home to play are Spurrier's two biggest recruiting coups at South Carolina.

Y! SPORTS

Great story about a recruiting tactic used by a school in Clowney's recruitment.

Clowney is Mario Williams.

I'm on record as saying he won't be the Heisman winner (or in NYC), nor the 1st pick in the draft.

However, just to be crystal clear, I think he is an outstanding college DE and will probably be a fine pro.

Personally I think Manziel will implode this year. His ego is bigger than the stadium, and I think the voters won't let go of the autograph thing even if he does have a great season, because character matters when it comes to winning this. Last year everybody thought he was a great kid. Now we all know he's not.

I'm guessing it comes down to Clowney and Bridgewater.

Teddy is going to put up some pretty lofty numbers against this schedule. I think the weak competition could hurt him. Even though that is absolutely not his fault.

Clowney is a potential Ndamukong Suh type player. He's a game changer and you have to run your offense around containing him. I think the media is dying to finally get a defensive guy the Heisman, so Clowney is going to get a ton of free pub. I think Clowney edges Bridgewater. Although I think Bridgewater will probably be more deserving.

Clowney will probably deserve to win it, however I have a feeling it'll come down to Miller or Bridgewater because of the position they play.

Braxton Miller will be there at the end as well if OSU has the kind of season I expect. Bridgewater will be there too, but I think UL's schedule ends up hurting his chances. But I actually think Clowney not being a QB & also playing in the SEC will help him.

Not sure I'd go so far as to say Manziel will implode, but I do agree with your general line of thinking. :thumb:

I think last year's success will actually hurt Braxton Miller. Right now, he has nowhere to go but down really.

What can he do to top last year?

What could his team do that will be seen as coming up short in comparison to last year? Lose a game.

That, IMO, is one of the biggest things going against him.

Manziel would have to have such an extraordinary season that it would literally be a crime not to vote him the award.

Bridgewater has a real shot at an undefeated regular season, which will help.

I'd love for Teddy to win it. I just feel like the deck is stacked against him.

UK fan and alum, but I really respect Teddy. I think the schedule and lack of national primetime games is going to hurt him. Also, being in the same region as Braxton Miller, who'll take some votes from him, will hurt.
