I personally think they blackballed him because they knew he wasn't going to UK or Lou, really had nothing to do with numbers and if indeed numbers were the real reason then the Ballot committee could have validated his name because he was an 1st Team All Stater for three strait yrs at 3 different position.

 

Doesn't really matter now, we are talking about him starting Safety at NOTRE DAME UNIVERSITY, WOW!!!,

 

Sorta makes whoever was in charge of that HS Ballot look a little silly now doesn't it

..........I couldn't be happier for him and his family, I just hope he can stay healthy and have the type of Senior year (take I of II) that he deserves.

Kind of a strong conspiracy theory considering who his Dad is and what high school he went to. Who were the finalists that year? Antonio Andrews won that year, didn't he?

Antonio Andrews won that year and he was committed to Air Force when he won it. And last I saw the other finalists have all had decent to very good college careers as well but college careers has no bearing on a high school award. I spoke to a voter from Louisville who didn't cast his vote until after the state finals and he voted for Andrews and felt like after watching state finals weekend that Andrews was the best player in the state. I still think Rees Macshara should have won it.

So what about the fact that 4 of the last 6 Mr. Football winners didn't attend UK or UL?

Two or more is too much for an award based on your senior year performance.

In reality, is the award really based on just the senior season? I had heard that it is common for the voters to consider the entire high school football career when determining the winner.

I could be wrong but when looking at the guidelines for voting for Mr. Football it is supposed to be about their senior season only however for some kids who have hada heralded career it is hard not to factor it in. Since only seniors can win it makes sense.

 

If BJ Nagle has a superior season this year for St. X then he should win it instead of someone who had a great junior season but a subpar or just a similar senior season.

And of course I can't find the guidelines for it anywhere.
