Where is Graybeard and Painter? I saw a poll vote but no comments from 'beard. I miss the posts, guys.

Oh I have a feeling that he and painter will be around before the week is out. Then again, they could be boycotting us like we did Russell a few years ago and they have JC in the past. :popcorn:

Of course they may be afraid that we will de code their post and figure out the secret Tomcat game plan....kind of like the kid in the movie "Christmas Story" when he was looking for a leg up on the Red Rider bb gun :sssh:. One never can be sure of those guys.

I'll be pulling for the Rams, but I think Ashland will be too much for them this go around.

I would agree, especially with what I saw last Friday against NewCath. I know it's was only the 1st game of the season, but........... If the Rams can keep Baker from getting to the outside and using his "wheels", I like their chances.

Welcome to bandwagon Lawnboy. I say Baker will get loose a few times, but with all the pieces of the puzzle, I like our chances.

We discuss the importance of stopping Baker but another key to victory for Raceland is being more fluent and consistent on offense. Defensively, I thought we looked well but we didn't take advantage of turnovers and red zone opportunities like good teams are supposed to do. Yes, we won 40-14, but I wasn't impressed. Possibly I am expecting too much at this point........

I thought the energy level for EC game was low. I saw a lot of walking on and off the field, walking to and from the huddle. They came out of the locaker room at halftime like they were taking a Sunday afternoon stroll through the park. I'm worried that all of the talk about this being one of the best teams and best offensive/defensive line in Raceland's history has already gone to their heads. Yes, they definitely need to find a more fluent and consistent offense. I think at times during the EC game that it took too long for the play to come in from the sideline. All this ranting is not good for my blood pressure. :rage:

I feel like Raceland will come out and play physical Friday night. This senior class is yet to beat Ashland and will be hungry to change that. I expect us to be disciplined and a little more "into the game". I am looking for a very entertaining game.

One thing that really concerns me is a couple of comments that I heard from a good friend that happened to be one of the Rams H.O.F. inductees last week. I was told that he saw on more than one occasion players coming off the field or were on the field pointing fingers at one another, arguing among themselves as if to be "you didn't do your job / you're not playing hard, etc., etc.. I wouldn't name names even if I could and I honestly don't know who it was, how many or the situation. He was just concerned that they were blaming one another for a bad play or whatever. Holding one another accountable can be good up to a point and other forms of that can tear a team apart quicker than anything.

There is one thing that is certain and that is all of the pre season talk from Raceland fans is not going to win one football game and it may even hurt but with the expectations high and this teams experience I would certainly hope that they are up to the challenge each week.

Right now this years Raceland Rams are 1-0 and are going into a tough place to come out with a win against a good football team in Ashland.

Can Raceland win this game ? Yes.

Will Raceland win this game ? That depends on the heart, work ethic, desire, and the execution that the Rams show on Friday night.

 

I picked a close Raceland victory, will stay with that but make no doubt that Ashland probably will and should be the favorite.

As coach Maynard tells the team, "the most physical team will win this game." Enough said.

I don't think they'll have any problem being motivated this week. If they do then I will be concerned. I think it being the typical first game, along with East being a little better than expected, accounts for last week. I think you'll see a different attitude this week.
