August 20, 201313 yr That super OPS Frazier just missed a hit and run sign and got Choo hung out to dry. He's fabulous. 2 hole suits him perfectly. Oh, and he popped out on a pitch he flailed at on the outer half, rearend headed to the AZ dugout. You can tell the Reds signs from TV now? Did that bomb hurt the OPS?
August 20, 201313 yr You can tell the Reds signs from TV now? Did that bomb hurt the OPS? It was extremely clear by Choo's prolonged reaction in the dugout that Frazier blew a hit and run. He's terrible. The worst everyday player they've got. His droughts make Bruce look like a model of consistency.
August 20, 201313 yr You know, maybe it was Choo's fault. Maybe the sign was in English and he misinterpreted. Just thought it was hit and run. You're probably right.
August 20, 201313 yr You can't? No I can't. More than likely you are correct but how do you know for sure?

His droughts make Bruce look like a model of consistency. He isn't supposed to be as good as Votto, Bruce, Phillips or Choo. Check their contracts. He's their next best hitter and that's fine for this team. It's like people expect the Reds to pay all 8 guys between $8-$25M a year. It's just not realistic. Can he improve? Sure. Is he terrible? No.

August 20, 201313 yr You know, maybe it was Choo's fault. Maybe the sign was in English and he misinterpreted. Just thought it was hit and run. You're probably right. I think you're right but here's what I saw. They threw over the pitch before he was caught stealing. Why call a hit and run after that with a guy that isn't your best contact hitter and a guy that is getting caught stealing way too much with Votto behind him? Just doesn't seem to me it's 100% a missed sign by Frazier. Choo's looking at the batter and reaction make it seem to me that you guys are right though no doubt.
August 20, 201313 yr He's not their next best hitter, not even close. To the stats he's next and it's not close after that this season. I would prefer Ludwick if healthy but we can't really count him this year. You taking Cozart, Heisey, Hannigan or Meso over him?

You taking Cozart, Heisey, Hannigan or Meso over him? I'm taking Ludwick without question. Also a no-brainer that Paul and Meso are better options as well.

You get the runner moving to stay out of a DP. Frazier runs like his shoes are still in the box. Hoping to leave a runner in SP for Votto. But you already knew all this, yet I had to type it anyway.
August 20, 201313 yr That was a hell of a double play. What a turn. BP, freakin stud. That double play was awesome, especially in that situation. #1 on the Sportscenter Top Ten. Darwin Barney dreams of making a turn like that ... but he never will.

But you already knew all this, yet I had to type it anyway. I wouldn't take that chance b/c well one is too slow to steal and the other doesn't make enough contact to risk it, but like you said more than likely you're right. Also they probably wouldn't have pitched to Votto so even more of a reason not to risk it. Still saying all of that Frazier more than likely missed the sign.
August 20, 201313 yr I'm taking Ludwick without question. Also a no-brainer that Paul and Meso are better options as well. The stats disagree with your brain. Paul is barely a part time player too. Ludwick has played 7 games so hopefully he outperforms Frazier. They're certainly paying him to outperform him.
August 20, 201313 yr Speaking of Frazier, I wouldn't be surprised to see Neftali Soto win the job out of Spring Training next season, if he keeps improving like he has this season.
