It's why you never project based on jr high and frosh results.

So, this is why we hear so much about these kids from Walter... I know he has proclaimed Holmes as his school, but he has provided "exposure" for a lot of NCC kids and Liam Rabe. Not to say he hasn't for others, but doesn't seem to be as much. So, basically, is Walter hyping his program through the kids? Or, hyping the kids through his program? I'm confused.

No. I'm confused. Walter does the best job he possibly can for tons of kids from different schools and maintains a deep connection to Holmes. He speaks on the kids he knows about and people still take issue with what he says. Yeah, I'm very confused. A guy makes informative quality posts on BGP about what he knows and has seen and still has to take crap for it. Yeah, I'm extremely confused.

Not to mention we're talking about freshmen here. (Allen Iverson voice) Not seniors. Not juniors. Not even sophomores. We're talking about freshmen. Not seniors. Not seniors. Freshmen. Freshmen. We're talking about freshmen. Not seniors. Not seniors. Freshmen.

I like for this age group

NCC-youngest Moeves

CC-CVH, Brent Angel, Gunner Shue

Dixie-Hunter Myer

Conner-Spencer Hemmrich

Cooper-Sean McNeil, Dante Hendrix I also believe they had a big kid move in but don't know much about him

SK-Cameron Rack, JC Hawkins, Timmy Contrell

Ryle-Braden Cheesman

Campbell County-Cole Heigy

Of these kids CVH is the only one seeing major varsity time. Racke, McNeil and Cheesman probably see some time with Racke seeing more than the other two with his ability to defend. I believe this list changes as we get closer to 2017 because some of these kids are two sport kids. I believe this will be the last year we see CVH on the football field due to the football coach will want his QB to be a full time football kid. Looking forward to hoops season, can't get here fast enough.

I like your assessment here of kids from each team. Hawkins will be a solid player at SK, but he has to get bigger and stronger, and look to lock down on defense a little more. He has a high IQ, passes well, and has a solid shot as well. At SK, if you don't defend, you're not going to see a lot of PT at the varsity level. Cotterell could be a special type of talent at SK with his ability to score, but from what I hear, he has got to get his head on straight, gets down on himself and shuts down (all hearsay). However, he has good size and strength and rebounds pretty well.

Gunner Schuh is another kid I'm excited to see play. Knock down shooter, high IQ, decent size and strength. I think he's got to get a little "quicker footed" and would like to see how he handles the ball in one on one situations. Would like to see him really grow into an all purpose scorer, as opposed to just a shooter.

Will the Ziegelmeyer (spelling??) kid be playing basketball at CCH? Has great size.

Is there a player in NKY that can over take CVH as the best player in this class? Four years ago nobody thought BHATT would be the number two player in the ninth his senior year, then Bolden exploded last year.

Who says he's the number 2 his senior year??? Let the season play out. Preseason rankings are erroneous. Hatton has been seeing double and triple teams since he was a sophomore atleast. Lets see how Bolden handles the increased pressure and attention this year. Remember, he didnt really "explode" for the Travelers this summer. He played well, but didnt score the way he did last year, albeit against the best in the nation. This being said, I'm sure he'll be just fine! Just wanted to make the point to let the season play out before you take Hatton's crown. The kid can play and is a d1 talent.

Well, we were talking about freshman, but then people brought up Rabe, Moeves, and sSchulte, etc. Last I checked, these guys aren't freshman. (Allen Iverson voice) Their Juniors and Seniors. Not freshman, man. Seniors. We not even talking about freshman, in the freshman thread. We talkin' bout the seniors, man. The seniors.

And, you helped to make my point. Walter talks about the kids he knows, and see's. and, in my opinion, does a really good job of breaking those kids down. And, also does a phenomenal job of hyping them up and getting their names out there. All of this is great. HOWEVER, where I am confused is... He compares the kids he knows, and has worked with (ie. McClendon) to kids he doesn't know all that well and hasn't worked with (ie. CVH... Love that this has become his "nickname" of sorts). If you haven't seen them play, or don't know them, why compare them??? Why not just hype and expose the kid you know. Comparing them to another kid that you don't really know, or have only seen one time (and we all know that any kid can have a bad, off night) is setting your guy up for failure in a way.

I'm all for hyping and exposing kids and giving them an avenue, and Walter does a great job of that, just don't understand how you can rank most kids you know and have worked with in the top 20 in their class in the state, but leave out a ton of other talent in NKY.

My "hyping" has nothing to do with who attends sessions that I helped out with. See my posts during the regular season. I was giving a lot of the same kids exposure before I even knew them on a personal level. I don't let personal relationships influence how I "cover" kids and what I post and write. Perfect example Is saying Newcath's bench is unproven even though I know and have seen Weyer and Jake Smith a lot this summer through these sessions and know what they are capable of. The things I've posted about Jake Schulte needing to improve on to make that leap from DII to DI, I have voiced to him in person as well.

I gain nothing out of kids attending workout sessions. You're looking in to this way too much, my man. If you follow me on twitter you'd know that I cover a lot of things and kids outside of NKY too. I have reached in to Cincinnati throughout the summer as well with my coverage.

If CVH is going to go to the NKU elite camp on Saturday, remember he just might be a tad tired Saturday morning, as he will be playing in a scrimmage game on Friday night vs. the Campbell County Frosh.

I will keep that in mind, TOG. Thanks for the heads up. :thumb:

I'm a cynical guy, Walter. It's easy to say that now.

Can't say from who, because I don't want to burn bridges, but I was told in January that the kid would be at Holmes the following year.

The experience of Dixie's junior class will make BH job a lot easier this year.

Rable, Schreck, Hedger, Bolin, and isebell have all had great summers on the AAU circuit and put in a lot of work to improve their games. If Niehaus can make a healthy return and stay healthy and Drew Moore ends up playing like I keep hearing, Dixie will have more than enough options to help BH get better looks. Dixie is preseason #3 and right on the heels of Holmes and Newcath. They will be in the region semi finals this coming season. I say that with confidence as long as they stay healthy.

Really looking forward to seeing Hunter Meyer work with this team this coming year. I think going against Rabe, Schreck, and Hatton will really help his development.

What kids have I listed in a top 20 outside of Pangallo in the 2015 class?

I've said BOTH Hunter Meyer and CVH are top 20 kids for 2017. I've also never argued CVH being top 10. I've said I like his skill from what I seen in the 1 time I saw him. I will see him again at the NKU team camp to give an even better evaluation (Notice I'm making an effort to see a kid so I can give him more exposure). I'm really not sure what your problem is with the way I do things. The only thing I've said throughout this entire thread is that people should really temper their expectations on an incoming frosh who has yet to play "big" varsity basketball. That's it. Not once have I questioned his skill. And again, I can't rank a kid inside the top 20 if I haven't seen them. I'm not purposely leaving kids out.

I've heard good things about Cam Racke, Hendrix, and McNeil, along with Luke Moeves but choose not to comment on them because I haven't seen them play. I'm doing my best, man.

Hopefully I can provide more exposure for some of your kids that I'm leaving off. Get me a schedule if you think there are kids I need to get out and see. More than willing to check these kids out but I can't be there if I don't know when and where they will be.

I've agreed with you on this all along, if those juniors take that next step. All have seemingly gotten better. Have to believe this opens up the floor for Hatton, almost kind of like it does for the magic. When a defense can't concentrate on just one guy, it makes it easier for all guys. Only linchpin, the juniors must take that step.

I have no issues with you hyping kids at all. None. But, you were comparing McClendon and CVH, throwing out point stats, which are really no true indicator of a players all around skill. And, I also agreed with you on the high expectations for CVH. Said that in the beginning of the thread. The older players are going to make him really work for his money, so to speak.

Ziggelmeyer will play for CCH this year. You are correct he does have great size.

In regards to Gunner Schuh, he is an outstanding shooter. If he gets 2 or 3 feet of space he can knock it down from pretty much anywhere.
