Obviously we all know the majority of people on here were very down on Palmer. However most people would also probably agree that this years team is probably the most talented team all around since the 80's. They have a top defense, a stud at WR, should be two good TE's to take pressure of Green, a good short yardage back, and a play making back out of the backfield. The one thing it seems like we all agree on is the success of this years team will depend on Dalton. The team seems set up very well to make a possible run depending on the QB play.

My question is for this year only would you still rather have Dalton or would you think it would have been better to have Palmer this year? Neither has had post season success and both have caught a lot of fair and unfair criticism from the fan base. So for most you probably would be picking the lesser of two evils, but I am just interested in if the majority of people would still say Dalton or not.

With Palmer you get a guy who throws a better deep ball, and would have receivers and TE's who can go up and get the ball but also are consistent with their route running. Which he has shown he does well with like when he had TJ. Neither is very mobile but Palmer is even less mobile than Dalton.

With Dalton you have a guy who has put up very good numbers in his first two years, and is a pretty accurate thrower on short to intermediate routes, but has struggled with the deep ball accuracy. However QB's do make huge strides in year 3. Dalton is more mobile than Palmer.

Can a mod add a 'neither' option? I'm on record as a Carson hater and I believe that Dalton isn't the guy to take this team to the next level....I'd rather have a guy like Matt Stafford- Maybe AJ McCarron. Just don't believe he's the 'guy'.

I disagree that this team is the most talented since the 80's. this teams offense isn't close to 2005's.

Not sure how anyone can vote Palmer and not be completely joking or out of their mind. He's atrocious.

Palmer is not atrocious. He's average, as is Dalton. However, Dalton is on the upswing of his potential while Palmer is on the downswing. I also like Cincy's line, defense and RB's better than Arizona's, which should help our QB. I look for (hope for) this to be a breakout year for Dalton.

Look at the key word I said, and also the key word you even said. Which that key word is TEAM!!! Obviously the offense is not as good as 2005, but overall as a team from offense, defense and special teams it is. 2005 the offense was great, but defense really only had two talented players that year in Pollack and Thurman. Overall there was not much talent at all on the defense, but it was good at creating turnovers. That does not mean it is even as close to as talented as the defense now. The overall talent on this years team in all three phases is ahead of 2005. I am not sure how or why you would want to disagree with that. Basically everyone seems to agree that this is one of the most talented teams in a long time for the Bengals, and even one of the most talented teams in the NFL people are saying. I am not sure how or why you would want to disagree with that. Unless you want to disagree just to disagree.

Apparently only some Cincy fans are the only ones who think that. Most NFL experts dont say that at all about him, he is an average NFL QB no more no less. I will say this if I was an Oakland fan I would not have liked him because he was definitely not worth what they gave up to get him.

Red Riffle no question about it.

As I mentioned before, I will be rooting for Carson to do well and my ideal scenario would be for Palmer and the Cards to win every game until the Bengals beat the undefeated Cards in the Super Bowl.

Did you see the comments by Mike Brown the other day when he was talking about Dalton and the Bengal QB's of old? He didn't put down Dalton but he did not seem completely sold on him yet either, and sounded like he still wished Palmer was here. That is what led me to ask the question for this thread.

This team is the most talented team since 2012 no where near the team of 2005. This team has a better defense than 2005 but the offense isn't close.

Id rather have Palmer simply because he can make AJ even that much better with the deep ball.

You probably would be the only person who could honestly say that the 2005 team was the more talented team. The 2005 team did have an explosive offense and three really good receivers in Chad, TJ, and Henry. They had a solid running back in Rudi, and I admit Palmer in 2005 is better than Dalton. This years team had Green who is probably better than Chad but we will just call that a draw to be fair. TJ obviously is better than the #2 on this years team and Henry is better than the #3 on this years team. The TE position is not even close though and the 2 TE's on this team kills the TE's on that team. This team will be using both TE's a lot which both are very talented, which gets Dalton close to as many weapons as Palmer that year. In the backfield Rudi and Green Ellis is a wash, and Perry and Barnard are a wash. So basically the one difference that really made the 2005 offense much better is Palmer. Which Palmer was in his 3rd season, lets see how Dalton is this year. Special teams wise this years special teams has a lot more talent, and you already said the defense is better. So yes once again as a TEAM with the key word being TEAM top to bottom this years team has more talent and I don't know how or why you try to argue that.

With that said I do agree with you on Palmer. I know most people around here hate Palmer, however I do think Palmer would have fit in well with this current team. I would bet deep down Palmer also realizes he messed up. So I also would give the nod to Palmer right now, until Dalton shows me he can make that improvement. Which as talked about on here, this is the year Dalton needs to show if he can make that improvement or not. This years team success will depend on the play of Dalton.

That may be the most intelligent post you've made....of course it is exactly what I've said so by you saying the same thing as me makes you a very smart man.
