Avery from Holy Cross? Wow that would be a good addition.

What grade is he?

Assuming nothing has changed Avery will be a senior this year.

Newport might surprise some people this year.

Figured I'd throw that out there.

Yea Avery and Short are both at Lockland, last I heard.

Newport will have a solid starting 5 with Turner, Price, Snapp, Joseph and probably sophomore Kam Covington.

Price is the defensive guy. He is very quick and has a solid jump shot. He will be able tp hold his own defensively against anyone in the region.

Dom Joseph is an absolute bull. He is very competitive and has a great work ethic. RB for football team, track member, and most importantly straight "A" student. His competitive nature really allows him to compete with the best of them. Streaky shooter but when he is on, he's tough.

Kam Covington is a work in progress. 6'3 big man that will be a soph. Strong and improving around the rim. Will be more of a defensive presence than anything.

Brandon Kilburn, 6'1 transfer from PCC last year will be a decent addition off the bench. Haven't seen him play but have heard he is good and can shoot well.

Witherspoon could be a contributor in some way. He got minutes here and there last year.

Snapp will obviously be the scorer but I think Dom Joseph is the leader of this team. His toughness sets the bar high for his teammates.

There is a also a 6'7 kid that plays football that I've heard may be playing basketball. Lineman that is absolutely HUGE and could make an impact off the bench. Heard he could be a D1 lineman is he is willing to put in the work.

Walter, I really like reading your breakdowns of the N Ky teams - this one I can't make heads-or-tails out of.

Did any of these kids play varsity ball at Newport last Year? Price? Turner? What kind of size do these kids have?

When did Joseph play at LLoyd?

I saw Newport's freshmen last year and there was not a player on the floor that gave me the impression they could play varsity this year much less start.

Who will be the point guard in this group?

Turner saw a lot of PT at the PG position...white kid. #14 I believe. He is probably 5'9-5'10.

Not 100% but Josepth was at LLoyd his frosh year and transferred to Newport at the beginning of his soph year. SAw mins last year at the varsity level but not much. He is also in the 5'11-6'0 range. Starts RB for Newport if you plan on watching them at all this year. Thick kid.

Snapp was Newport's best freshman and he played JV last year. He would've made a difference at the frosh level. Best scorer on the team this year as a soph. 6'0 would be my best guess for him.

PG duties will probably be handled by Paul Price with Turner also seeing time there. He has improved a lot over the summer. Constantly in the gym with Snapp and Joseph to get better. Not much of a scorer but could be capable of averaging 8-12 ppg if Newport plays uptempo. I liked what I saw out of him. Will be known more for his defense.
