Ethan Snapp is a nice player. Can score with the best of them. Has some real nice pass and head fake moves. Has a nice pull up jumper and a quick release off the catch. Seems to be a high iq player as well.

 

All this said, he has got to get stronger and work on defensive foot-speed and maneuvering. Adding these two things will make him a great player. Good thing is, he has plenty of time.

 

He'll be a good one. Look forward to seeing him this winter.

HIs strength is his quick release on his shot. One of the things that makes him so tough to defend is how quick he can pull up and get rid of the ball when taking his man off the dribble. Solid ball handler and despite his frame, is able to finish through some contact. BIggest down fall right now is his defense and needs to get stronger but as has been stated multiple times, kid has a great work ethic and is constantly working in the gym.

 

Not as physically strong as Hatton was at the same age but he can score with the best of them for his age here in NKY. Easily top 3 or 4 soph this year in NKY. If I had to put together a list, I'd say:

I know I have 3 Holmes kids and some of you will call me a homer for that but ask any JV coach in NKY who has seen them and they will agree that group is absolutely loaded and has some studs.

He had a solid summer with NKY Legends, who were ranked top 15 in the country at the DII level.

 

He will see a lot of time this year. Very strong for his age. He started several games for Holmes over the summer over Hill so the staff obviously thinks highly of him. Just needs to mature mentally. Not playing football this year and focusing strictly on basketball will help improve his game.

 

A kid I'm interested to see how he progresses is Keyon Lucky of Holmes. Legit 6'3 as a soph, built like Englemon already, and absolutely jumps out of the gym. Very raw but with some work with Bud and the front court coaches could be a contributor by season's end off the bench.

 

One thing's for sure. There is a lot of talent in NKY in the 2016 class.

Snapp is a good young player. Has a very high IQ in regards to what needs to be done on the floor, but with any young player, he does sometimes make the "oh, c'mon!!!" play. He shoots and scores the ball very well... Better than a lot I've seen at this age. He got a ton of compliments this year as we were traveling around. He does need to get stronger, and work on his lockdown defensive techniques, but I think those are things that will come with maturity and experience. If he adds those things, he could be top 10 in the state in his class by his Senior year, which is really saying something because the class is loaded! He has quite a bit of college interest right now and he's only going to be a sophomore. His dad puts in a lot of good work with him, and the best part is, Ethan loves doing it. Whatever it takes, however long it takes, to get better! Excited to watch him grow as a young, high talent player. Great kid as well!

Have heard good things about him but haven't seen him in person to form an educated evaluation of how he stacks up against other kids I've seen. Looking forward to seeing him this year.

Short is at Lockland with, I believe, Jaylen Avery.

 

Newport will have a solid starting 5 with Turner, Price, Snapp, Joseph and probably sophomore Kam Covington.

 

Price is the defensive guy. He is very quick and has a solid jump shot. He will be able tp hold his own defensively against anyone in the region.

 

Dom Joseph is an absolute bull. He is very competitive and has a great work ethic. RB for football team, track member, and most importantly straight "A" student. His competitive nature really allows him to compete with the best of them. Streaky shooter but when he is on, he's tough.

 

Kam Covington is a work in progress. 6'3 big man that will be a soph. Strong and improving around the rim. Will be more of a defensive presence than anything.

 

Brandon Kilburn, 6'1 transfer from PCC last year will be a decent addition off the bench. Haven't seen him play but have heard he is good and can shoot well.

 

Witherspoon could be a contributor in some way. He got minutes here and there last year.

 

Snapp will obviously be the scorer but I think Dom Joseph is the leader of this team. His toughness sets the bar high for his teammates.

 

There is a also a 6'7 kid that plays football that I've heard may be playing basketball. Lineman that is absolutely HUGE and could make an impact off the bench. Heard he could be a D1 lineman is he is willing to put in the work.

The 6'7 lineman you speak of is more like 6'5 and has a real heavy/solid build from what Ive heard. But, I have heard he has potential, even in basketball.
