Frankly, not enough. I understand there are Varsity teams on the schedule that don't have JV and/or Freshmen squads, but IMO it does not seem the coaches WORK to get those slots filled. I know from this site and friends on Facebook that there are multiple younger squads NOT playing every week....how hard is it for coaches to figure that out and fix it? For example, Cooper had Holmes on the schedule the past two seasons. No JV. Lloyd JV was sitting both those weeks so why not set something up? Is it because gate won't cover the refs $? Bus costs? I can't get enough football (as the name implies) and want as much of it as I can possibly get!!

Cov Cath Freshmen have @ 10 games inc a scrimmage and JV @ 8 games incl a scrimmage.

Is the max in HS still 18 games between Freshman and JV?

Estill County has 7 JV games (All game are at 6 PM)

 

August 26 Madison Southern.

September 9 @ Jackson County

September 16 Berea

September 23 @ Nicholas County

September 30 Powell County

October 7 @ Morgan County

October 28 @ Garrard County

Raceland normally has around 5 freshmen and 8-10 JV. The reasons: 1. all our freshmen play on the JV so they get around 12 games anyway 2. most of the schools around us don't have a freshman team, even the larger schools. Sometimes a few of those games are Freshman/Sophomore depending on what the other team has to play with. Raceland's JV is normally all Freshmen and Some of the Sophomores, we rarely have any juniors on the JV unless it is a first time player.

Beechwood is usually the same. Beechwood freshman is now playing in the big school freshman league to make sure they get a full schedule of games. Similar to the challenges Raceland faces with no small schools having freshman teams, Beechwood was scrambling to fill the schedule in the years before when they weren't playing the big schools.

Ryle shoots for a 10 game schedule each year.
