Not to pick on Cats3x, but since his team seems to be the topic of conversation. Is Cats3x team good? Sure it is, its very talented. Is it MORE talented than ALL of the other teams? No it isn't. Do I think my TEAM is better? Yes I do, as are probably a couple of more. He has only one player I would trade for at any of my positions, and that would be Magic. Has KD done enough to even be considered in this conversation? No, he hasn't. That's not a slam on him, he's a very good ball player, but does he fit in with the HISTORICAL great's of the game yet? I question that and I question his ability to perform against many of the players on this list. I could also see a lineup that could be on the floor at some point in time together that would be pretty weak defensively, though could be pretty good offensively. However, in a format like this it would be tough to give up too much on defense at any one time. Cat's initial starting lineup had Magic and Thomas in the backcourt together. Personally no way I do that and I don't think it works at any level, Thomas would strictly be my backup pg, unless for some reason Magic is at the 3 or 4 spot, which again would be crazy to do with this lineup unless several guys are in foul trouble. And although being a Carolina guy and Worthy being one of my all time favorite players, I don't think he would be the same player with Thomas at the pg position and he becomes less effective. Rodman definitely adds def and rebounding, but does noting for you on the off side of the ball, and if Miller isn't hitting 3's he's pretty much a non factor in my book and a BIG liability on D, so the bench has some holes. So yes, there are several arguments that can be made of why Cats3x's team isn't the best, just as many arguments that he can make for it being the best.

 

What I want to see is an in-depth post by all the owners (like the one I made) of what makes your specific team the best. I thought I would see more of those by now.

 

I've tried to give in depth on my own team as well as a solid and honest evaluation of the other teams, I commented on all the other 7 teams. I don't think we are picking on CatsX3 I just think anyone looking objectively and past the names can see the massive problems with that team and I wouldn't rank it any higher than 6th of 8. I'm fine with mine not being in the lead (though I think it is and at worst 2nd/3rd) but I would want one of the other teams to be ahead of me that actually make sense.

Maybe we should all rank the teams 1 through 7 that participated in the draft leaving our own team off the list.

 

I'll start just to get the ball rolling and see if anyone jumps on board.

 

1. BigVMan- Major love: everything, drafted closest to concept I was going with as well, his team fits really well. A tenacious team. Major issue: My guys are better :lol2:

2. 1&Only44- Major love: everything, Wilt + Baylor, Stockton distributing, Pippen on lockdown Major issue: None, just like BigVMan slightly more

3. PP92- Major love: overall versatility Major issue: None, just don't like them as much as above teams

4. JumperDad- Major love: Versatile, quality composition Major issue: AI, bench does matter, those saying it doesn't is laughable to me, with the roster diversities here the bench will be key with matchups, this isn't about Jumper's bench, just the concept of a bench in general

5. CatsX3- Major love: Magic, Magic, Magic and Shaq down low as a matchup nightmare Major issues: listed them in detail already, 4 of 5 starters need the ball constantly, Thomas and Magic as a terrible mix, offenses would have a field day with this team.

6. Sweet16- Major love: Ball movement, unselfish starters Major issue: THE BENCH, no killers on the team either

7. SVFan- Major love: can win any game because of MJ Major issue: many issues, lots of guys that MUST have the ball, the fact that Vince Carter is on the team at all, thinking 'Nique will be cool with a backseat to MJ

 

 

These are my opinions and rankings, I'm sure many will disagree, I left my own guys out and gave honest ranks not factoring in if I disagree with a poster or not.

Believe me I know Carter is a reach but in his prime he was amazing at scoring as well as other things. I think he'd be a solid guy coming off the bench.

One last time, I loved AI. But remember this, he was at his absolute best when he was the unquestioned man, like take 30 shots any game you want man. I don't see him being a fit with these types of rosters. Heck, even when he went and played with Melo (and he had a lot left in the tank when he first went) that didn't go well at all, and that was just one other "star."

AI was at the end of his career and had other issues, Melo..well I don't think many people will get along with Melo, I always think he is very selfish in the way he plays as well.

When he got there he was not at the end of his career. That season before the trade he was still over 30 ppg in Philly. His full year in Denver he has 26 ppg, it's just he didn't fit well when he wasn't the only guy.
