I have great memories of that place! I remember they had ton of liquor decanters all over the place. I wonder what happened to those?

 

The previous owners were able to take them. Which didn't make sense because the place was foreclosed on.:idunno: They left everything they didn't want including the "Rats".....What people didn't realize is that there is a main storm sewer that runs directly under the property. A clear path to the buffet! When we first took over we found a plate of old steak bones above the main dining room in the drop ceiling. Word has it that's what the previous owners did to keep the fury tenants calm. We have story after story of what we found. I wonder if people's opinion of how great the F&N will change once I get going.

Also the reason David Hosea didn't reopen the F&N is because of the City of Dayton itself. City officials realized that they weren't going to be getting freebies any longer. So with that they made it impossible to bring everything up to Code. Trust me when I say this! The F&N was a accident waiting to happen. Can you say "Beverly Hills"....Shame on the local city officials for allowing such terrible corrupt situation to continue on for many years just for them to enjoy a free "Ribeye". The F&N Steakhouse is in a better place today. The Landfill!!!

T'Birds ... I don't doubt a word you are saying. Everyone raving about the place knows about the bad side of the facility. The place was a maze if you went back from the main dining area and I am sure it would have been terrible if there were ever a fire.

 

But man it was some good food!

The varment decided to bite into one the main lug lines only to find a surprise waiting on the other side of the wire insulation.

Apparently I read where they found 69 dead rats in the walls.

 

Why do you think it was like eating in a dungeon! The lighting in that place was the absolute worst and for good reason, but damn the food was "killer".

 

A classmate of mine worked there our jr. and sr. year of high school ('83-'84), he would tell us how every Friday and Saturday night after Reds home games that Reds and visiting players would regularly close the place down and they were excellent tippers.

One of my favorite memories of the F&N was 30 years ago. We went there with my in laws to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary

 

When my in-laws got married, the photographer lost all of their wedding photos. 30 years later, when he retired and was cleaning out his studio, he found them. He gave them to my sister in law. She surprised them that night by giving them their wedding album as a gift.

 

I can still see my mother in law sitting at the dinner table looking at her wedding photos for the first time. It was an unforgettable evening.

I think I ate at the F&N one time. I remember the famous egg plant, the place was very dark ,and seemed like a fire trap. We used to walk the tracks as teen agers from the fort to Dayton. There was a super old graveyard with headstones from the early 1800's. Then we went to get drinks from the F&N. Some evenings we would walk the tracks and go to the Riverview Drive in.

 

We also walked the tracks out to Aqua Ramp boat Harbor and got subs after swimming at the breakers. I have great memories from my teenage tears and lots of them come from the river and the F&N.
