Secondly as I said in another thread I have no respect or sympathy for a man who uses violence on a woman . They can restrain without assaulting. These two men are no worse than a husband committing domestic violence in my book. No women regardless of crime deserves to be assaulted by a full grown man.

First off, the officers WERE wrong. If they weren't they'd still be employed. And no, the blame doesn't all fall on the officers. However, from the statements of the LEOs on here an officer is only supposed to use as much force as necessary to remove a threat. If I understood them correctly that means you go to the next level above the threat. If someone pulls a knife you use your service weapon etc. In this case it was two grown men vs an unarmed woman. It was not necessary to grab her by the hair and slam her head down on the desk to the point that it broke a tooth. At that point they are just trying to inflict pain on the accused. Same thing for the force with which the officer grabbed and yanked her leg--that is the reason for his comical fall down the hallway. As for not being able to control their emotions--that is part of the job. As an officer you are seeing people at their worst--many of them on the worst day of their lives. It is up to the officers to ignore smart mouths and ignorant comments up to a point. If they are thin skinned enough that they feel the need to resort to physical punishment because they get their feelings hurt then they do not need to be police officers.

 

If the officers had done their job properly they would still be employed. The people that they arrest are always going to do stupid things and say stupid things--otherwise they wouldn't be getting arrested. It is up to the officers to protect the stupid people and their rights just like the rest of the public.

 

What are you scratching your head about? Do you think it is okay for the police to physically abuse a suspect beyond what is necessary to remove the threat? Maybe they should have pulled out their billy clubs and just beaten her into submission once they had her down since she didn't do exactly what they said--would that have been okay? That would have taught her a lesson. Perhaps they should just start beating anyone that says a derogatory thing or gives them a dehumanizing stare. I respect the job that the police do but not all cops are good cops. Because of the power that they have and the ability that they have to use force to enforce laws they HAVE to be held to a higher standard. I'm sure Rocket endures a ton of verbal abuse on a daily basis and from what I've seen out of him on here I doubt he ever beats anyone unless he has absolutely no choice. These officers had a choice--they chose to abuse their power.

She refused to obey a lawful order and they did what they did and it's over. First off when people say they slammed her face into the counter....watch the video again, her face never hit the counter. It';s things like that, the over exaggerating that I scratch my head over. Notice after she is bent over the counter she still refuses to let go? Yes the officers could have handled it a little better but at the same time they did what they thought they needed to do to cuff the woman. I could care less if they were fired or not, it was a brutal beating like you all are claiming. I didn't see one punch thrown, not one kick, nothing of the sort.

 

She was put on the ground and they cuffed her, she didn't look like she was even trying to get up so they drug her into the cell. I didn't see any punches thrown, I didn't see her hurt in anyway. So yes I am scratching my head over the instant run and side with the criminal and automatically scream police brutality.

I'm all for officers using as much force as they want to subdue an unruly person, but goodness this is way overboard.

I've seen harder tackles in a football game.

If an officer is attempting to put you in cuffs and you resist you will not like what will happen next. Again, I absolutely think the cop was out of line of grabbing her hair and pushing her face onto the counter. Other then that I reserve judgment until I know the entire story.

On a side note this is a perfect example of when a taser should be used. She doesn't comply with the officers they pull the taser and ask again. She still doesn't comply she gets shocked. Conclusion...this thread never gets started and the cops still have their job.

I'm guessing they lost their jobs for what happened from the time the second officer pulled the hair on. Also probably a little saving face as well. What I'm talking about is why did the cop cut off the call? What did she say after that? Why was he going to place her in cuffs? ect.
