May 16, 201313 yr Prosecutors say Welden forged the doctor's signature on a prescription for Cytotec, relabeled a pill bottle as "Amoxicillin" and told the woman his father wanted her to take the antibiotic. Weldon's defense attorney characterized the actions as "aberrant" but pointed out his client has no criminal history. A U.S. magistrate denied bail Wednesday. He faces up to life in prison. May 16, 201313 yr Author It may take two to tango but after that the woman is 100% in charge. Either way, terrible decision on the part of the alleged perpetrator.

May 16, 201313 yr Yeah this is a bad deal. What can he be charged with? It was in Federal Court, I'm thinking a drug charge of some kind. What if some prosecutor charged him with murder?

May 16, 201313 yr Author In no way am I excusing or condoning his behavior but there is another issue here. It takes two people to make a baby, and both of those people are financially responsible for the child for 18 years. However only the mother decides if the baby will be brought into this world.
May 16, 201313 yr Whats the diffence between this guy and the guy in Clevelend who punched the girl he got prengent, 5 times, in the stomach so she would lose the babies? Well, besides the assult and battery charges? I see no difference, they both were forced to not have the baby. As mentioned, it takes two to tango. He does have the charge of faking a prescription as well. If this was a morning after pill I would have no issue, as that prevents a pregnancy.
May 17, 201313 yr This article offers a lot more information: FBI: Florida man John Weldon charged with murder for tricking girlfriend into taking abortion pill Charged with Murder? Not to get the whole abortion debate going but, if the mom decides to take this drug it is not murder? Either way the victim is the same...
May 17, 201313 yr Lee is seeking a minimum of $15,000 in punitive damages and her suit cites battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress by Weldon. She has already filed a lawsuit? (Skeptical hat being put on at this point)
May 17, 201313 yr Author Charged with Murder? Not to get the whole abortion debate going but, if the mom decides to take this drug it is not murder? Either way the victim is the same... Again, not defending the perp in any way but you have pointed out another issue. If it isn't murder for the woman how can it be murder for the man? I wonder if this case will be "famous" years from now and become a part of the whole abortion debate?

I wonder if this case will be "famous" years from now and become a part of the whole abortion debate? My thoughts exactly I have no empathy for the guy who did such an awful thing. But at the same time, if a woman can choose to get an abortion and it isn't considered murder, then why is this guy going to be charged with murder for basically doing the same thing? It's interesting. A woman doesn't have to get the father's permission to get an abortion, and although I see it as wrong, legally the guy may not have to have toe woman's permission to have an abortion....i know it's kind of different but at the same time it's not.

Thank you, that is exactly what I said to my wife...glad to see I'm not the only one that see that this could be a possible tipping point in this long debate. BTW...We need a can of worms emoticon for this. Found one!!! Edited May 17, 201313 yr by Jumper_Dad found can-o-worms
May 19, 201313 yr What about a woman who tricks a man into getting her pregnant by poking holes in condoms. Can she be charged for that. Be very careful of women who try to get pregnant on purpose [Archive] - Don Juan Discussion Forum
