This was shady from day one. Not one thing in the Deadspin article surprised me.

 

I think it all had a weird feel to it, as well. I visited there several times and it just never set well with me I guess is a good way to put it.

The cottage industry of pop up prep schools have many more than this one that would make you shake your head. Aside from the tradition rich prep programs that have been around a long time, there are quite a few out there that put on a good front but are just as shady in their own way. If the NCAA wants to clean house, they shouldn't forget to take an exhaustive look at quite a few of these prep schools.

I feel sorry for the kids who have been exposed by them and others.

 

In all reality, the kids that have made it to College would have made it to college anyway by playing competitive High School and AAU ball.

This is a shame. Rich Gatewood, who did a tremendous job in his one year at Louisville Moore before moving to Taylor County and winning big there, gets completely left out in the cold because of this guy's lies. Gatewood has won everywhere he has been, and deserves another chance be it with a big time high school job back in KY or at the college level. He is an outstanding recruiter!

And I don't wanna hear all this "we only do it for the kids crap; because it's just a bunch of crap".......you do it for financial benefit and gain.

I don't understand feeling bad for Gatewood. Thought it was a terrible move when he did it. I'll find it hard to believe if he uses the "Pitino I don't know what's going on outside the program" card.

If you actually read the article, it says how he was forced to sign an agreement not to say negative things about the school and the situation JUST so he could get his final paycheck. If that's the case, how in the world does the Pitino comparison relate since Gatewood, too, was being screwed over by the director of the program by not getting paid on time? Article mentioned he almost came to blows with the director about not being paid on time in front of the players, so it's clear that he, too, was lied to. The Pitino comparison make absolutely no sense and has no bearing whatsoever about this prep school situation.
