May 10, 201313 yr “We will never change the name of the team,” Snyder tells Erik Brady of USA Today. “As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it’s all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season.” Pressed on whether any external forces could force a change, Snyder became strident: “We’ll never change the name. It’s that simple. NEVER — you can use caps.” Snyder says Redskins will ?never? change name | ProFootballTalk
May 10, 201313 yr Snyder's a terrible owner from a success standpoint, but I'm with him on this one. I just wish all the colleges that changed their mascots would've been similarly anti-PC. I will always call Miami University the Redskins, and St. John's will always be the Redmen, and Syracuse will always be the Orangemen, as far as I'm concerned.

Do you still called St. Bonaventure the "Brown Indians", Jim?! :sssh: I agree 100% with you on St. John's. If I'm not mistaken, they were called the "Redmen" because they wore red shirts.
May 10, 201313 yr Dan Snyder is human garbage, a terrible owner and represents everything wrong with modern American sport. I'm against him on this and maybe that's just out of spite.

May 10, 201313 yr Do you feel the same way about the Chiefs? Braves? I'm not crazy about it, but I'm not really concerned about it either. I'll leave that whole debate to people who care more. If the Redskins stay the Redskins... whatever. But if a Native American group wants the name changed to the Washington Pale-Faced, Disease-Ridden Land Robbers, I guess I'll hear that one out as well.

I won't delete it because I don't want it to look like I'm trying to change my tune after the fact, but I apologize to Dan Snyder for the "human garbage" comment. I hate his ownership style and the way he conducts himself, but I went too far. As I'm sure Snyder's an avid reader, I wanted him to see this.
May 10, 201313 yr Do you feel the same way about the Chiefs? Braves? Everyone always forgets the Blackhawks
May 10, 201313 yr Author Everyone always forgets the Blackhawks Good point. I am not a hockey guy and the other two came right to mind. Any others?
May 10, 201313 yr Good point. I am not a hockey guy and the other two came right to mind. Any others? I'm not a big hockey guy either but when I did follow hockey, they were always one of my favorite teams. No clue if there are others. I'm sure there are at different levels of "pro" sports.
