I feel like Pardue has less pressure at Mercer County than he did at Boyle County and the few conversations I have had with Mercer County fans/parents about Pardue have all been positive.

 

I agree with Purple. No doubt in my mind that Pardue will have Mercer contending for a district title on a yearly basis. He is a great X and O coach with no pressure on him.

Pardue was hit by a perfect storm in his first HC job... Talent was down, schedule was a murderers row, etc. If you go back and look at his district/playoff records, they were good. Boyle is still a county school - not exempt from the normal cycles in talent.

I was told that JT Long will not be playing football his senior year at Mercer County. I was also told that Chris Goodman will not be playing football also.

 

 

I can understand why JT isn't playing and I wish him nothing but success in his future. If I am not mistaken his collarbone is a huge concern going forward and I believe baseball is his primary focus going forward.

 

 

Now, Chris Goodman......I love that kid. Truly a great kid who is a joy to be around and I am grateful just to know him. This one kills me though. I hope he changes his mind and plays football. It isn't too late for him to keep playing but I was told he likely will not play. Breaks my heart. I still love him and respect his decision. Hopefully he changes his mind.

I have been told that Chris Crawley-Goodman, Russell Sims and Braxton Bradshaw are all on the football team and have been practicing with the team since last Monday.

Boyle could have the worst team they've had in ten years and Mercer can't beat them. not this year anyway. if they even had a chance thay would find a way to give Boyle the game. just like they did catholic last year. granted catholic was a much better team but Mercer was ahead at the beginning of the forth quarter.

I don't know why Purple pride would not expect to see Robbins on offense. He is the starting QB. I just saw him in a 7 on 7 yesterday and he looks bigger and faster. Other than his first series, he threw the ball well. The first series he looked to be over throwing and too keyed up.

Tanner will be a starting running back for Mercer in the near future. I just don't think it will be this season. He and Dustin Baker will(should) have very good careers at Mercer County over the next 4 years.

That seems to be the general belief out of Mercer County. I guess I am just worried because I am not hearing squat about Boyle County football for the first time since 1998. That's just weird to me. I haven't heard about Mercer County more than Boyle County since 2006.

I think that most Boyle fans are not really sure about how good this team can be. They have looked good in their two 7 on 7 round robins. But we all know this doesn't mean that much when you take away the importance of the offensive and defensive line play.Boyle looks to be very very good on offense and are expecting to improve on defense from last year. Many of the juniors on this team have really grown over the summer in both size and ability. This probably why you haven't heard much about this years team.

Not sure why they are worried. We return three starters. Brown at center will be a two year starter. Josh jonhson at gaurd will be a two year starter. And Tommy Craig at tackle will be a four year starter. im pretty sure know one in the area has that much experience.

Just passing on what I hear people say when talking about Mercer. I could be wrong but Mercer returns more O-Line starters than Boyle does.
