Listening to Mike & Mike this morning....two words. Grant Hill.

I didn't listen....Are they referring that if Rose comes back too early he could wind up as oft injured as Grant Hill later became?

They were talking about how Hill, after he first got hurt was cleared by the doctors, but told them he just didn't feel right. They told him it was normal, and that he was good to go. He sat out a few games and fans started getting on him for not playing even though he was cleared. Broke his ankle shortly after resuming play. Signed with the Magic in the off-season after having surgery, was cleared, didn't feel right, but at their insistance tried to play. 4 ankle surgeries later and he was no longer an elite player.

Probably the closet example in comparison to what Rose is going through but I still say that for every Grant Hill situation there are several players who are just fine.

Now I will ask, in part because I don't remember, but how did Hill break his ankle that first time? A freak accident or did it happen while playing and would have likely happened to anyone? IMO that matters because it can clear up if it was related to his previous surgery.

Also, medicine and surgical technology have progressed a lot since the 90's and even early 2000's.

Grant Hill also had a staph infection that wasn't properly diagnosed and that played a huge part in his lack of recovery as well.

A little late but...

My brother had his ACL and meniscus surgery on December 7th. He was cleared for full contact a little over 3 months later on march 22. He actually finished physical therapy two weeks before that but he still hasn't played in a sport that puts strain on his knee. He runs a lot now, but he's not mentally ready to play a game that requires straining that knee. It's a mental thing, and until they're mentally ready it's not worth rushing.

Exactly. If you're not ready then anything can happen, your minds a powerful thing. If you think you may reinjure yourself your more than likely going to get hurt again. It's all in the mind.
