May 8, 201313 yr I'm siding with Kobe, but let me pose this question... Were they really Kobe's possessions? He was probably under the age of 18 at the time (if we are strictly talking high school material). He probably didn't pay for the bball shoes, jerseys or whatever it maybe be. The parents might not have either, but they probably had to pay school fees or something like that. Either way, were they really Kobe's possessions? Whether he said, "Do what you want with them" or not. Either way its crappy, but are they technically his possessions? I don't know. I would say yes they are his possessions more than his parents. Basketball is an extra curricular activity that isn't a part of normal school fees. Some teams do fundraisers to help fund basketball shoes, jerseys, etc. Not sure in his case but I'd venture a guess that his mom didn't pay for them. But if she did I would call that a gift for her son, because she isn't paying $x amount of dollars for her to wear the jersey or shoes, it is for her son and his enjoyment of the sport, thus I'd assume it was a gift. All just an opinion though, each school is different on how they do things.

I could see her attorney making the case that they actually weren't even really Kobe's possessions. I don't know, just trying to stir up the conversation a little more.
