April 25, 201313 yr Is there an article on this? I would like to see the specifics. It was on Cincinnati.com yesterday. I'm not on a computer that can access that site today. From what I can remember the president called him and Munoz requested a face to face to explain his position. The president said Munoz's positions are consistent with Xavier's policies.
April 25, 201313 yr I would bet that any speaker at any college would have some aspect of his/her life that a student might find objectionable. If you are fortunate to live long enough, and brave enough to speak out on what you believe, eventually you are going to tick someone off. There are a lot of people Whose views I dont like, but I try to respect that, and even like them for it. This young man needs to learn that life like people is never going be exactly what you want. Sounds like Mr. Munoz is a good person who supports his community. The big picture here is what is important. Not to some.

I am a big Munoz fan and I am glad he is still going to speak.
April 25, 201313 yr Go Munoz!! Students-you don't have to show up for the ceremony. You paid the money (or somebody did) and Xavier will happily send you your diploma. Going to and through the commencement ceremony is optional. No they won't. They'll happily leave it at the Bursars office for you to pick up.
April 25, 201313 yr Goodness this was back in the early 90's... People just love something to complain about. Glad Munoz is still the speaker.

And to be fair, I think it is wonderful Michelle Obama is speaking at EKU. Probably agree with her about 1% of the time, but feel it is noteworthy for the school to bring her in, and worthwhile for the grads and guests to hear.
