^Not sure if they were there to also see Smiley or not but the coaches left by the third inning when they realized Dunn wasn't there to pitch they hung around a couple innings and left. If they've seen him 2-3 times then they probably know what they want to see one way or the other. Good luck to the young man as he threw well.

So to put that first rumor to rest, yes he has been sick for the past 2 days #2. Talked to coach after dr to find out the issue of grades will keep him out this week anyway.

Thank You! He is just now starting to feel better physically and is working hard to get himself out of his academic situation. He has become eligible grade wise already, but will not play til next week. Rules are rules and we follow them. As a dad regarding bullying, it's hard to let that situation go.

As a dad regarding bullying, it's hard to let that situation go.

I thought schools came down hard on Bully situations. They talk a good story, or is it just liberal lip service? Hope that it gets resolved.

Wow, lot of "Monday Morning QB's" here. If that suicide squeeze works, then this thread is completely different. It's so easy to second guess after the fact. Takes zero ability. Best wishes to the Dunn boy.

One thing is for sure about this game. I've said it several times already in conversation, but this game was one of the best games I've seen in quite sometime.

It was fun to watch and I don't think the thread would of been much different if the Squeeze worked or not. Great pitchers duel, great defense, several plays would of made ESPN top 10 lol.

 

I think the reason the squeeze is being talked about so much is that when you have such a great game with very little hitting for either side, there are very few individual plays one can point to that could of made a difference in the game itself and the squeeze being one of them that people who watched the game can point to as being one of the few if not the only play that had the entire game riding on if the outcome was different.

 

I don't think it's harping on the squeeze, I just think aside from outstanding pitching by both starting pitchers there really wasn't anything else to point to that would of affected the outcome as much.

Somewhat off the actual thread topic, but I have personally found Boone Co. schools (Camp Ernst and Cooper at least) to be less than stellar in dealing with bullying issues. It was the "IT" topic this year (last year was homelessness) and they have had seminars, speakers, etc. but it seems to be just talk. The few cases I have first hand knowledge of were completely mishandled. The focus seems to be keeping every kid "on the books" - by that I mean getting funding for that student from the feds and state by keeping him/her enrolled, not the kid doing well in school, staying or getting back on track. The latest one, where a kid made a "Who I could just strangle" list on Facebook ~ frankly, this boy was the victim of YEARS of bullying. NOT that what he did was right, obviously, but everyone has a breaking point and this kid was pushed waaaay past his. The schools seem to be putting the onus of prevention on the students. The staff and administration turn a blind eye to it all until something really erupts.

Having said all that, my kids were previously enrolled in a different school system and the bullying/drugs/academic opportunities were much much worse there.

I have had three kids go through or are going through Camp Ernst and Cooper and while I don't have any first hand knowledge on bullying, I can say I have found both administrations to be very professional and very involved with the students. I have full confidence that if there is an issue at Cooper that Principal Wilson will work with the parents and students involved and handle it.

 

Now, back to the thread topic. A great game and I don't doubt they may see each other again before the season is over.

I do want to say, that has not been the case with Cooper regarding this matter. They have their finger on the pulse and ready to jump if need be. Very impressed at every level.
